My 03 Chevy 3/4 ton Duramax dully passenger power window doesn't move when pushing either window power buttons. I see in the manual there is both a right and left relay for these windows in a box under the dash. But the plastic box has a keyed locking screw which I have not been able to find a tool to open it. Thought before I remove the door panel I would try to swap the relays in this box to see if they are interchangeable and if they may fix things.Any thoughts on this.

If both buttons don't work it's likely the motor. You can test voltage at the motor to be sure.

I'm 99.9% sure it's the window regulator that defective.I've troubleshooted and repaired a lot of them in different cars with stuck windows and 100% of the time it has been the regulator. They are not real difficult to change out, check out you tube videos.For the best price shop online for one, the dealers will really rip you off.

Window regulators are a huge problem on that generation on GM tucks and full sized SUVs. If the passenger one doesn't work from either switch first make sure that you haven't locked it out from the main switch. If not pull the trim panel and check for power at the motor connector. If you have power it's time to go to 1A Auto to watch the video and order the part. There are no left and right window relays.

It's also a fairly easy DIY fix, look on youtube for videos. I replaced my '02 3/4T silverado this year. Took about 30 minutes. Bought the motor on Amazon. Worked, but not perfect, then bought a switch (5 minute install) on Amazon and whole thing works like new now. Less than $100 total cost.

Double check that you have not engaged the lock out switch that prohibits passenger widows from working.

I just ordered a regulator from rockauto.com and it works perfect. It's not an OEM part but, it works perfect. On GM you remove a couple of screws and the door liner slides up and off. Then pull back the plastic moisture barrier and the rest is easy. Tape the window up and the regulator assembly comes out with the removal of a couple of nuts and bolts.

Having replaced my share of window regulators/motors. Just remember to confirm it is the motor or regulator. In the ones I have had to do many were broken ground wires in the loom in the door jam.

The whole assembly is cheap enough it's not worth it to replace the regulator and not the motor.

I use blue painter's tape to hold the window up when you disconnect the regulator...a couple long strips on the outside of the window, over the door frame and to the inside of the window glass.

Beware the el-cheapo Chinese parts....I bought more than one for the Grand Prix where it was wired backwards. You had to push the switch "up" to lower the window and vice versa.

Also if you have a tool for those plastic clips it makes the job a whole lot easier instead of fighting trying to pry them out with a screwdriver.

Concur on A1 Auto. You just need to get a new regulator. (The motor is likely fine, but the wires are jammed.) Some local auto stores also carry them. Be careful you get the right one. Some are similar but have slightly different bolt holes.

It does take most of the day to swap it out, so pick a day it is not raining and start early so you have all day. One good tip was to jam the window in the up position with folded cardboard pieces while you install the new regulator.

Taking the door apart was a bit of a nightmare the first time (I have done it three times on my 2003 Chev truck we got new) but be patient and no need to break anything. If you have a bad memory (you do!) take pictures so you can put it all back the way it was :)

Oh and search on Ebay for a regulator. Include the motor in the new regulator, makes for an easier fix.

The cable in the regulator has most likely frayed and jammed. Go to YouTube for instructions on how to remove the door panel to inspect the regulator. If it is the regulator cable which is most likely, again go to YouTube for instructions to replace. Actually an easy job.

I have a 01 silveraldo and have done this three times, driver side twice, passenger once.

I changed out the regulator in my Suburban and it was an easy job. GM really makes access to those parts easy.

Lock out only on crew cabs mine is extended.

Found the mini 25 amp circuit breaker. When pulled drivers side doesn't work and when in, it runs so narrowing it down.

Related info passengers window had been going up real slow for years. Down ok but slow going up. Sometimes had to help by pulling on it.

Had the same issue on my drivers window on my 2001 Tahoe. Took it into the Chevy dealer and the female service writer said perhaps up to $400 to diagnose and repair. I flinched and she said let me try this....she opened the door and smacked the door just below the armrest and success, the window worked. That was four years ago and it is still good to go.
