Hey guys, A friend at church is looking at the truck above, I was doing some research prior riding down possibly on Friday to take a look at it with him. We have discovered it has 107k and 2 owners. Clean as a new one from what he was told. My question is, what common issues with the series DMax should be aware of? And how long does this series of Dmax last for? I know the first gen had some injector issues and this gen has overheating issues at times? Anyway appreciate the help.... Thanks Kris

look up on you tube the 05 duramax with over a million miles on it!! couple from Michigan haul campers with it. Many others out there with well over 500,000 and nothing major to fix. Nothing is perfect though????

Look to see if it has had any service/repair issues relating to overheating. If not I'd say you are good to go.If it has had overheating issues all is not lost. A majority of the overheaters were fixed by switching the turbo intake to the later LBZ style. Less than $100.00 repair.This forum shows the difference in the two mouthpieces.

My '05 LLY has 169,000 trouble free miles on it. It's a work truck so it is always hauling or towing something. It does not overheat, even towing up mountains in the summer with the AC on.
I guess some of them must overheat or that wouldn't have gotten started. That's the only real problem I've ever heard of for the LLY.

We still think our 05 is a new truck and something we both were laughing at this morning as I drove past the Chrysler and asked do you want to look at a new Ram? Laughing is good for my wife.

If it's been on the lot for 7 months, they'll call him in 2-3 days with a change of heart and a willingness to negotiate. It's a game; they figured they'd swing for the fences but your buddy didn't take the bait.

Unless your friend shot them a ridiculously low offer and they don't perceive him as a serious buyer, his phone's going to ring soon.

Head Gaskets! You asked and I told you. Very common issue with 04-05 LLY Duramax.
I have loved this truck since it was new and at 102,000 miles just picked it up from the shop today.

$5700 later and I can love it again.
