Well, lets see your boat. Sometimes when people say towing a boat they mean a light lake boat. Other times people think that trucks and campers almost loaded can put a boat out the back three feet and the boat weighs 6000 pounds.
Your AF optioned out loaded with water, propane and supplies is going to be at near 4000 pounds. Your hitch and tongue weight are next. Then measure your real axle weight and decide how you like to feel on the road.
Your "advice" is about 1000% unfounded. There is zero issue with that camper on that truck towing even a 6000lb boat if it's setup right.
I've been doin it for years with my lowly 2500 short bed Dodge that is 5" shorter bed length, and depending on the trailer or conditions, only needs a 12" hitch extension.
