Rieco makes jack swingouts just for the purpose of using the camper on a dually.

Problem with SB Ford duallies is first they're rare as hens teeth and second, they only made them during the 6.0 years, I think. Maybe late 7.3s, but all the ones I recall seeing were mid 2000s models.

Why would you intentionally buy a shortbed for this? It’ll work, but why not get the longbed?

As for capability, I use a one ton dually to haul an 11.5 footer and tow a 10,000 trailer. None of my tires are overloaded, I’ve scaled it several times.
The truck will do the job just fine.

Ram has made them in megacab.

Thanks for all the responses! My current 2016 RAM 2500 seems to handle the weight of the camper just fine. I am just wanting some piece of mind and will probably move to a one ton dually since we also pull our boat. I see that Ford had a short bed version but stopped making it in 2008. I don't know if anyone else makes a one ton short bed drw but I am researching it now. Thanks!

Well, lets see your boat. Sometimes when people say towing a boat they mean a light lake boat. Other times people think that trucks and campers almost loaded can put a boat out the back three feet and the boat weighs 6000 pounds.

Your AF optioned out loaded with water, propane and supplies is going to be at near 4000 pounds. Your hitch and tongue weight are next. Then measure your real axle weight and decide how you like to feel on the road.

Your "advice" is about 1000% unfounded. There is zero issue with that camper on that truck towing even a 6000lb boat if it's setup right.
I've been doin it for years with my lowly 2500 short bed Dodge that is 5" shorter bed length, and depending on the trailer or conditions, only needs a 12" hitch extension.

You’ll have to get jack swing out extensions to clear the fenders. Otherwise, it should be fine. Having two foot behind the bumper isn’t as bad as 3+ feet of the 11 1/2 ft models on a 8 ft bed.
