2013+ ram 3500 receiver hitch height

I just ordered a 2016 Ram 3500 and I know it will sit much higher than my 2012 Ram 1500 and im curious if I need to buy a new hitch shank. Could you please let me know how high it is from the ground to the bottom of the receiver. Im not sure how long it will be till I get it so if I need to get one I would like to get one prior to camping season next year. Its a 1200lb equalizer with standard shank. I plan on using it with the new truck.

Shouldnt feel that 7500lb camper with the 6.7 cummins with the aisin transmission. Ordered the truck so its all ready when we uprade to a fifth wheel.

    Why don't you go by the dealer's lot with a tape measure. That's what I did when I was worried about rail height. 4WD vehicles may be different BTW.

    The new RAM will come with a 2.5" Receiver. The adapter to 2" that comes with truck is a sloppy fit. I would get a new 2.5 hitch. Chris

    Tried that when i ordered but neither dealer i visited had a 3500 on the lot. They were both smaller dealers who dont do a lot of heavy duty sales. Ive read that the 2500 sit higher so I didnt want to bother with those or a drw. It doesnt have to be spot on, but a couple numbers when averaged would probably get me close enough to tell me if I should be good or not.

    Ive already found the 2.5" shank with a longer drop that will work with my hitch on etrailer but wasnt going to purchase unless I either found I needed the extra drop or two, the hitch felt too sloppy with the adapter.

    You will need a drop shank for sure. I had to go buy a 9" drop shank for mine.

    The bottom of mine is 19" and yours is 21 3/4" once the adapter is in. I can drop another hole which puts me another 1 1/4" closer but still off 1 1/2". Kmowing the trailer handled bad when slightly nose high it looks like I should be buying a larger drop shank.

    Just a heads up, the Equalizer brand shank is super expensive. I bought a Husky brand from my local RV parts dealer for about 75% of the cheapest price I could find on the Equalizer. The weight ratings for the shank are the same, the width of the shank is the same and the hole diameter and spacing is the same.

    Any chance it has any part # on it. I had a hard time finding any husky shanks online. Camping world is the only close dealer and this one is horrible so I refuse to purchase from them. I found the equalizer one for $155 on etrailer.

    My 2500 sits exactly an inch higher than the 3500 picture posted above. Just figured I'd answer that open question.
