Too bad about the diesel, although I imagine the take rate wasn't super high. We'll see what Stellantis or whatever they are calling themselves this week will do. They introduced the first American midsize pickup in the 80s with the Dakota (the old Toyota Stout IMO was the first true midsize pickup sold in the US). In the 80's the S10 and Ranger were just barely bigger than the more refined and reliable Japanese compacts. It seemed like Dodge discontinued the Dakota at a time where they could have really taken the market by storm with it. It will also be interesting to see if GM or Stellantis have an answer to Ford's wildly successful Maverick pickup.
