- sportsman_500ExplorerI have a 2008 fully deleted running EFI Live by Anarchy Diesel. I get 16mpg in the city and 11 towing a 12k lb.+ Raptor 3018. It runs great, my EGT's on average are 300 degree's lower then when in stock form. The only issue I have is only when towing I get a "service required, see dealer now" in the driver info center that will not clear until I cycle the ignition. The truck runs fine and there are no DTC's set. Unfortunately I was advised by Phil at Anarchy that this is a known issue with no fix at this time. Even that being said based on previous experience I would stay away from the canned tuners and still go with EFI Live or similar.
- Golden_HVACExplorerSo someone breaking the EPA laws is going to post here that they do it and don't mind telling everyone in the world about it!
Deleting the EPA emissions is not something to brag about. The controls are something to be proud of, they caused diesel trucks to not smoke, they are so much cleaner than a truck from the 70's or 80's. The trucks also make so much more power than a truck from the 80's or 90's.
The only 'improvement' that I would try or recommend is propane addition. IT will further clean up the emissions, and produce more power on demand. Modern trucks make as much power as the transmission can reliably handle.
Fred. - AH64IDExplorerEGR deletes are becoming harder and harder, and more expensive, to come-by. The EPA has put a tight grip on the companies making the parts. It has literally turned into a delete black market.
EGR sucks, no 2 ways about it, but the current software for the Cummins is pretty good. My buddies 07 6.7 G56 DRW 4x4 gets 16-18 around town and 12ish with his Lance 10xx.
I know several people who are deleted and towing, moderate loads, and no issues. It just turns it into a 5.9 basically. MCC and Smarty are the tuners they use.
Just weigh the cost vs the reward. Are you after more power, lots comes with that, or just less EGR? Towing heavy is when the emissions actually do their least, since it's not as needed when being worked. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

I have been reading and hearing a lot about the EGR deletes. I have trouble hearing from anyone towing anything substantial with one, particularly the 6.7HO. Any experiences anyone would be willing to share??
Not sure why you would want to do that????
For one you will be your own warranty station! You can not clear the codes on these newer trucks. They will know what you have done if you go in for warranty work.
For the money spent you most likely won't make up for it in fuel savings.
350HP/800TQ not enough? - larry_barnhartExplorerBull dog is making a programmer for the 6.7 so guess more power is needed for some. If more power is needed buy the new f-350 but that wasn't the question.

Not sure what this has to do with the OP's question .....

It's more than people realize.
I run 415/850 to the ground, so about 490/1000 at the crank and it's very very very very rare that I use more than 80% load when towing, and I've never needed it in 5th or lower.
At 20Klbs combined I can pull 4% grades in OD on a 85° day above 6,000 feet and have yet to find a 7-8% grade I cannot pull at 55-65 (speed depends on the road).
That's with a NV5600 and OD ratio isn't nearly as good as 5th, for towing, on the 68RFE.
I bet I could de-tune 75hp and never feel it with a trailer hooked up.
So I agree, is the cost worth the reward? Trust me I have a lot of cost!! The reward is nice, but sometimes you have to wonder...
Thou it's a cheaper hobby than other things :-)Gemstone wrote:

Looks right inline to me.
There isn't much, if any, reason to delete the EGR and keep the rest of the truck stock. The EGR isn't what is was in 2007.5, even on a 2007.5. - JustLabsExplorerWe deleted my dad's '07.5 6.7
He is running the Smarty Jr ME.
In his case it was the only way to keep that POS out of the dealers service dept. - NC_HaulerExplorer

Dang Larry....but I agree, Hey, mine has enough HP & TQ, I don't need no stinking delete or tune:) - campiglooExplorerThe only reason to do something like that is to buy my last o2 sensor related to it. No more power needed and it is plenty fast enough. I too like the clean burning no smoke part so deleting the dpf is not part of the equation. I know the cooler part, but I don't see how pushing hot, oxygen depleted exhaust back into the engine can be a good thing.
