But the fuel economy sure is cra-p-py.
My 2006 D/A gets way better MPGs than my 09 D/A. The 2009 has DPF, but no DEF system.Bionic Man wrote:

There are some things that this forum simply isn't the right place to get information on. Deletes is one of them.
Cards on the table, my truck is stock, and will stay that way. However, if you want to get feedback from people with experience on deletes, go over to a place like cumminsforum. Lots of folks over there with deletes that will tell you that it is the best thing they could have ever done to the truck.
A lot of folks over there also report head gasket failures too.
Here's a link to help the OP read about the 07.5-09 6.7 cummins. I just happened to scroll thru 5 pages and found 4 head gasket topics.
I must say that I find it funny that even when we agree, we can still disagree on the same subject.
And fish, I must say I am confused about your response here. It wasn't that long ago that you were claiming that the vast majority of hotshots running pre-DEF 6.7 CTDs were deleted. Are they all dealing with blown head gaskets as well?
Most of the hot shot 6.7 cummins powered trucks around here are deleted without a doubt. How many have had head gasket failures as a result I don't know, but I suspect with the amount of miles they put on these trucks the warranty period isn't very long. Having said that there's no denying that a deleted and/or mild tuned 6.7 has a higher head gasket failure rate per a poll I read at the cumminsforum. The amount of discussion on this topic is also an indicator in that forum that points to this trend. It's also safe to say that the 5.9 with the smaller bore which equates to more surface area for the head gaskets to seal and far less prone to failure and lacks the frequency of these discussions even with moderate tuning. To me it appears the 6.7 has less margin than the 5.9 when it comes to head gasket sealing ability.- mich800Explorer

"I am guessing your RAM is a few years old"....yes, I have a DODGE.
I have yet to read of anyone (first person account) who has had a warranty claim refused because of an add on product....I don't doubt they exist but they must be few.....I have heard that "it will void the warranty" statement since I put the MP-8 on in '06. Maybe I need to look harder to find 'em ?

Post DPF era is a new ballgame. The fact that people going in for warranty work on these vehicles are returning everything to stock should tell you something. I am for deleting, especially the early ones to gain long term reliability. There are just risks one should be aware of prior to taking the plunge. - Bionic_ManExplorer

Look, I am not saying deletes are a good idea. Personally, I think that deleting is a bad idea, but if you read up on posts by people that have done it, there are a great many that have done it and claim lower temps, higher MPG, no CELs, and no trips back to the dealer.
Will you find people with problems after doing it? Absolutely. I would dig a little deeper and see if those guys are the same ones that also tune their engines to 700 + HP. Maybe it is just me, but it seems logical if you double the HP of an engine, it might not stand up as well as it would if it was run at stock levels, or something that isn't 100% above stock.

Yup
Every one have been deleted/run tuners. - GemstoneExplorer"I am guessing your RAM is a few years old"....yes, I have a DODGE.

The AME 15W-40? That's what I run in my 05.
Yeah must have worked. Regen is the leading cause of fuel in the oil, if you can keep EGTs high from towing fewer active regens are needed.

TBN did seem low to me also but they said to go 9K. Not me I will stick with the computer says since it will effect my warranty.
My oil level never increases during changes. Maybe I got a good one!
You are quite lucky indeed. I'm sure your GCW is only helping.
Cummins recommend a TBN of 2.5 min, or 1/2 of starting TBN. Since most oils start above 5 the 1/2 of original is the standard.
Thanks I did not know that.
I think the AMZ/OIL non LE I run in my 98 is TBN 12.
I was told by the service manager at Dave Smith Motors to run the hell out of it. I DID! On the way from Idaho to W WA I ran full throttle up the passes to 90mph and let off and geared down heading down the passes. May have helped seat things in???
