Bed is too hard - help

We have a fold out couch that is just a little too firm - suggestions please? Tried a 1" eggcrate but that was not enough. Memory Foam is not an option because of bulk and weight - just don't want to deal with that so what other options have you found. Bed is queen size (or really close). Thanks,
  • Air mattress. Mine came with an air mattress and 12 volt pump. The newer type air mattresses are not the same as the older ones we used to put in or under our sleeping bags. Nothing is going to make the couch like a bed but some things help.
  • We replaced the mattress with an aerobed. Our guests claim it is very comfortable.
  • Outdoor and Camping Stores will have very comfortable mattresses used for camping and back packing that roll up tightly for storage yet self inflate when unrolled. You can add more air for a firmer sleep. They have other versions wth air pumps to adjust firmness.

And we actually found a re-upholstery shop in town that has a wide variety of foams of vaious firmnesses including dual firmness memory foam that he cut to size, for a very reasonable price. We even got toppers for our Home King bed and our kids beds too.

Getting comfortable on a sofa bed is kinda like the "Princess and the Pea"!
  • I meant the aro/air bed.. Just been calling them air mattresses to long. No grooves just a flat air bed with velvet on the top which came with a pump. My son says it sleeps good.

    Me bad!
  • Good luck! Some of those sofa beds are like torture racks in the dungeons of castles!
