Best Pop up for 2019 Ram 1500 or 2500

What's the best Pop-up for a 2019 ram 4x4 crew cab 1500 or 2500 with 6'4" bed.
I'm want the technology and air suspension.
I do not want to be overloaded when fluids, gear and 5 passengers are added and with that thought I want the best fit for the 1500 which may not be the best fit for the 2500. Payload for 1500 appears to be 1780.
  • You need to be looking at the 2019 Ram 2500 a 1500 won’t get the job done when you figure passengers, gear, water, etc. With a pop up I don’t imagine sway will be much of a problem. The 2019s should have better payload capacities in the 2500. Good luck!
  • You want to put 5 people and gear in a 1500 with a TC and not be overweight? That's not going to happen. It's a stretch with the 2500. If by overweight you mean not over the GVWR then it will be extremely difficult. If you mean not over the axle and tire ratings it's probably possible.
I would look at Northstar campers as well as Four Wheel and Haulmark.

That sounds ambitious. Where do you want to travel, in what type of weather and for how long? Do all 5 need to sleep in the camper?

Something like the Outfitter Juno might work. Not on a 1500.

All for $45,000.00 USD.I can buy 4 Palomino's for that and have 3 spares for later....lol

Pretty pricey for a pop up I'd say.
  • Think I'd invest in a 5 person tent and a Coleman stove to cook on. You could carry all that in a 1/2 ton pickup with a short bed, no issue. Get a portable Loo for a bathroom.

  • I would go with the 2500. Lots more payload and you can upgrade the TC without replacing the truck.
The new RAM is super nice - enjoy!
  • Your choices are limited at that weight point. The other point of caution is, the 1500 FCA trucks now have coil springs in the back and coils and TC's don't get along very well plus the coils are inboard mounted which will equate to excessive sway.

Don't expect to get a fully loaded pop up TC in that weight range. Accessories add weight. My Palomino SS1500 which is optioned out, weighs 1980 empty 2400 ready to camp.
  • Won't 600 hundred pounds or so be taken by your four passengers from the payload limit before we talk about your weight over 150 pounds and the stuff in the TV?
