I would agree and apparently so does GM or they would build it. With the advancement of gasoline engines there would probably be even less of a demand.
Lots of people say they want a diesel Suburban including me. I'm still not convinced there is a market for it from GM, say at $9k over an equivalent 3/4 ton SUV which already starts at $80k.
I (and I think the overall market) would be more interested in the 3.0 diesel shared from the new 1500 Silverado than a 6.6 Duramax. If you look at the used market those full size GM SUVs rack up a ton of miles. Enough that you could actually see some savings from a fuel efficient diesel. - colliehaulerExplorer III

You do realize the poster was being humorous by the emojis. GM did make a 6.2 Diesel that should we say was less then stellar.
Some of you do realize the 6.2 is a gas engine and NOT the diesel.... right? - RoyJExplorer

There's always one to spoil the party :P - LynnmorExplorerI wonder why the 6.2 1500 Suburban is being discussed in the tow vehicles forum. If a high horsepower engine were in a 2500 Suburban, that may qualify as a tow vehicle.
- kw_00ExplorerThe 6.2 would be cool in the HD trucks if it was built to handle such the stress. So far the 6.0 has been much proven and was built for the long haul for sure. With the rumors flying around of the mighty Ford 7.0, I would suspect that GM will consider a boost in the displacement of the famous 6.0. So far I love mine, it really is the best gas engine I've ever owned in a truck. I'm looking forward to the next generation of GM trucks. Since they have decided to fit the 6.2 in the Tahoe, it will be interesting what GM will create with the newer LS based engines. The Vette has a 7.0 lt engine...so it would really be cool if GM revamped that engine for HD use and used it in the had trucks. It's really not that hard to do...LS engine are so easy to make power with minimal effort.....

It's a step in the right direction, but it is going to be ungodly expensive.
I do think the 6.2 would be a winner if they would put it in lower line packages.
I agree...make it available in the base models...really all models of the Tahoe/ Suburban.
