Coach style level system for PU/TC

Has anyone looked into installing a leveling system on the PU like they use on RV coaches?

I wonder if with a little skill these could be adapted, no use reinventing the wheel if someone has done it.

This is part of getting older...I want to do stuff better. Plus maybe I want it easier too. LOL!
  • CAJW and all, I plan on doing a bunch as you can see from my many posts. Many things have got to come together, most of them on the financial front then the logictics of the process. I surely will post what I do. I have started the threads with the hopes of continueing the thread with the actual 'doing'. So the plans are moving forward. Thx for your interest.
  • I looked into this awhile back, thinking it had already been done before, but couldn't locate a TC setup with a leveling system. Please do a step by step photo journal if you decide to go ahead with this. I for one would be following your progress very closely, sounds cool!
  • AZPete...thx for the offer...when it is time i certainly will be contacting you. It is all in the planning stage at this time. I suspect this rebuild of the TC and adding the goodies will be a year in the making after getting started. It sure is good to get these thoughts all lined up and on the list. THX again.
  • if you want to do the installation yourself, camping world can sell you the parts.
measure the clearance from the ground to the bottom of the frame.
this is important to get the right length jack assembly. because if you get it wrong, it may be a problem returning the assembly without a restocking charge.
it will also determine whether straight down or kick down jacks will fit. it is not advisable to mix the two. look at the frame. is there room to mount the jack. you need about 8 inches of room lengthwise, and if you use kick downs, you need about 15 inches of room horizontally.
please contact me at 602-549-3638. i may be able to help you get the right parts.
the joystick system is the cheapest. it starts about $2400 or so. i dont have the figures right in front of me. but i can check. its on the internet.
  • I am at the age, I realize it is time to stop saving for a rainy day. You save for years, and at some point, you realize if the doctors do not get your savings, a hospital will. I do not say this with any disrespect intended to either party, but only to put the cost of our toys in perspective. I think $3500 or so installed is a lot of money, but will not go far toward one day in the Hospital. So, I say go for it.

  • Good points. I cannot find what the travel for the ram. They do show a kit for Class C rigs...So somehow it works. I do not have 4x4 so ok there. Plus it is hard to find the price on line...it is like they keep it a secret. But maybe you are right might be a outlandish price.
  • I think it is a great idea, but do see a couple of negative things.

1 It could be very pricy.

2 It is questionable it could work on 4x4 trucks, due to the truck to ground height.

3 I think it would have less ground clearance than My Stable Lift, which reduces my ground clearance by about 2-inches.
