while we have some CPAP user's attention, I am due for an update of my REspironics Remstar plus M series machine.
Any suggestions or recommendations? I assume they will just get a similar machine as a replacement. it has to be medicare acceptable.
do want to stay with 12 volt operation if possible.

Virtually any machine made today can be or is powered by 12V in some fashion.
I had a resperonics unit that lasted for a decade or more. Ran on 12V, I was happy with it. When it died the new unit was a resmed airsense. I am very happy with it as well.
However, one drawback with resmed is that many resmed units uses 24V rather than 12V for DC power. That means you will need a 12V/24V converter, no big issued but more expensive than getting a unit that needs 12V and a 12V adapter plug.
The other thing to check is what the 12V plug is on other units. Some brands have either a 3rd connection or reversed hot/neutral on the 12V input, meaning a unique and more expensive connector.
My suggestion, go to the battery power solutions website and look at what is required to power the various brands on 12V. Use that info along with other info on what you need for a CPAP to pick one that will work for you.
