Hey guys not to step on anyones TOES. I have a 99 1 Ton Silverado with the 7.4L vortec. It has been tuned by Blackbear performance. I have a 35 foot carri-lite 5th wheel. Fully loaded about 10,500 so 18,000 combined weight I can pull 75mph anywhere and get 10-10.5 miles to the gallon. Gas motors can make big power and get fuel mileage if you TUNE them. According to blackbear I have upwards of 550 foot pounds of torque and over 400hp with the tuning and mods made. And reliability my last TUNED dually I put 500,000 miles on the original engine and transmission. The NEW diesels such as the cummins and the new Duramax are turning into DOGS with the particulate Diesel filters they are going backwards in mileage as I know several people using them that have seen the mileage fall off. Prior to 2007 that wasn't the case. The newer Silverados with the Allison automatics make trailer brakes pretty much not needed. Would I pull without brakes absolutely NOT. Just my opinion.
