Dining Table Slide

SIL is looking to pick up a pop up with the dining table slide. So far, all we have found are units that include the built in toilet/shower which he is not interested in. Do they make these or do you have to special order one? Are there any older ones out there that came with the slide but not a toilet?

Any information is welcome. And, anyone have any preferences as to brands?

Thanks,

Grandpa Dick
  • If you're looking used, I do know that they made the Coleman/Fleetwood Utah with a slide out and no toilet....if they find a Utah CP, that has the toilet (CP).....not gonna ask "why not a toilet", it's an option I would not go without
  • Our Viking has a dinette slide, but it has a toilet. We never use the toilet, but it has a counter top that closes over the top so we use if for extra counter space. There is never enough of that in a Pup.
  • The extra counter space makes sense. Why no toilet? We camped out of a PU for 17 years when the kids were young and loved every minute. We were young, camped during the warm months of summer and taught our daughters about "roughing" it, at least to some degree. Now that we are older and camp 3 seasons each year, the inside facilities make lots of sense.

I guess it is how you want to camp and whether you are willing to pay extra for features you don't plan on using. I do like the idea of getting some extra counter space although at quite the cost.

Thanks for the tip on the Coleman Utah. I do seem to remember seeing some of these years back when they came out. The slide really opens up the inside of the trailer.
  • When we had our Coleman/Fleetwood Chesepeake (no toilet), my Wife took off to do things at the campground, and left me with the two dogs....when I needed to use the facilities, I was stranded because I could not bring the pups into the building, and I was not going to leave them alone.....this time around, we got the Toilet, and will never go without (Utah CP)
  • Thanks Budrock, we will look into this one.

Beerbelly, yes, the indoor facilities do have their advantages for sure.

    Thanks for the ideas.
  • Look at forest river. I had a 625D with huge slideout dinette, and pottie/shower. Downside of the those two attributes: Zero inside storage. WE bought it new in 2010, used it two years, traded it. Dealer sat on a year, and someone bought it local. I watched for a year and never saw it used. Its for sale this season. It took 2 hrs to fully setup campers like that. You have dual drains, no gray tanks, and have to mess with creating the wheel each weekend. Truck carries everything, and that adds to setup and break down. If I did it again. It would be a nonslide zero utility pup, but that will never happen.

    The glamper:

The current four season funbox with tents:
  • In most such models, the toilet/shower is optional, there is an alternative with a cabinet.

Do the dealers in your area order those models without the toilet? Depends on their experience with buyer preferences. In my area, which does not sell many pups anyway because of horrid hot weather during most peoples' vacation season, the pups that can have toilets get ordered with toilets (and all get big A/Cs).

If you are not finding what you want on a dealer's lot you may have to order it, Flagstaff/Rockwood and Jayco all build a slide dinette without toilet. You might have to twist a dealer's arm to get what you want, as I've found some resistance to special ordering TTs and PUPs.
