Extended Service Contract on new trailer?

All the above that support a big "no" Save your $$.

Read any of the articles and/or threads on denied claims and issues with repair times. Will make you never want to make a warranty claim even if there's a legit issue.

As an aside, I sent my mfg a note stating as much concerning warranty work. We have to voice concerns to ever have a chance of this getting better. Good dialogue with them and some encouraging ideas they say are in the works. Proof is in time.

The coatings is a scam used by dealers for years. I have been in the car business all my life and after the sales people find that out that stuff is never mentioned again. As far as the service contract, put that money in a rv savings account. At least you will have something at the end.

The dealer can't lose under this program, but the only way you win is if your RV needs a bunch of pricey repairs. For someone who is unsure which end is the business end of the screwdriver, it may be a good deal.

Ask the dealer why he needs to sell you an extended warranty in addition to the FREE WARRANTY FOREVERthey are already providing?

Lots of dealers are in that program. Its a revenue generator for the service department. The required yearly inspection is just that, an inspection. When they then find the roof needs sealed you pay. The bearings need greased you pay. Next thing you know the $199 required yearly inspection just cost you $800 not counting the cost of the two trips hauling the rig back and forth to the dealer to begin with. If they could figure out a way to charge you for that they would. P.T. Barnum said it best.

Personally I won't do business, or even walk into a dealership that touts that RV Warranty Forever BS. You should see they take all their customers as suckers the second they put up the sign.

It's not unlike the sign in the service department that says "RVDA-RVIA Certified Technicians" They may have one out of 10 that is certified, or they may have had one in the past whom was fired for drinking on the job. What they probably have is some nose picking hackjob kid whose past work history consists of being the Executive VP of fries at McDonalds or the Director of coffee at 7-11.

What Mitch said. Whatever works for you.
If it's less of a hassle for you to spend more money and then argue about coverage than to do some repairs maybe, then get extended warranties.
If your reasonably capable, weigh your options a little harder.

I am from Nevada where gambling is a part of life. If it is a new trailer with a good warranty I would not be buying additional coverage. I would actually never buy a new trailer. I don't buy collision and comnprehensive coverage either. It is a personal choice. Do what makes you comfortable.

I agree with Beverly & Ken and others, keep your money in the bank to use if needed. I have never trusted extended warranties. Most of them are a "rip-off".

Extended warranty is an insurance policy. Never insure anything you could not afford to replace were ti be destroyed. That is why you insure your house but not your toaster. So the question becomes: if any appliance broke on your trailer could you afford to repair or replace it? If yes, then don't buy that "extended warranty." If no, then buy it.

Um...that free warranty costs $199/year. I would want to know exactly what it covers. For example, does the lubrication include repacking bearings or just squirting some grease into the zerk fitting?
Extended warranties are usually pretty worthless.
The “coatings” are really worthless.
However, like Mitch said, if it helps you sleep better, then go for it.
