You lost me Tory "Yep... Another Nanny state with free oil changes!" Are you saying Ohio is a Nanny State? If so why? I think all the States require a disposal fee be charged on repair service don't they?
I just shake my head when someone thinks there getting something free. :R
One example of getting something free:h....I took delivery of my truck on May 9th. of 2013'...at that time, picture frame adapters were like hens teeth, (very hard to find, if at all)....I've been a customer at my dealership since 1996 and since then, have purchased quite a few vehicles from them and sent them quite a bit of business also. I COULDN'T tow all of May, nor June and was letting EVERYONE know, who would listen and who didn't want to hear it just how TICKED I was at purchasing the GN/5er prep package, but no picture frame adapter to be able to tow...fast forward to SECOND week in JULY!! Owner of Skyland Automotive Group in Asheville NC, (my dealer), calls me and talks to me about how badly they feel about truck I ordered taking so long to come in and now about me canceling camping trips because I can't tow my 5er...At this point, he tells me that he had spoken to Chrysler's regional rep about this and they had a picture frame adapter coming in, (got it about 3 day's after this conversation), BUT, they also GAVE me a Chrysler Max Care extended Warranty, 7yr, 100,000 mile, zero deductible plan....I didn't pay a penny for it....I did the deal on my truck on May 9th, a little over 2 months later, my dealership "gave me, free of charge", this extended warranty. SO, this action taken by my dealer didn't cost me a penny....and the 4 free oil changes that I got when I purchased the truck, (still have one left), for what the warranty would have cost me, that I didn't purchase, I would say MORE than pays for the 4 free oil changes."free" oil changes..:B I know that whomever paid for this extended warranty with zero deductible got a heck of a discount on it, but at that time, IF I had purchased it at time of purchasing my truck, it would have cost me an additional $2400,, thus the reason I didn't buy it..so yeah, this warranty was given to me and no way did I pay anything for it,:) - HannibalExplorerI think that $100 also includes tire rotation and topping off all fluids and a little powder puff for your fanny. The windshield washer fluid is pretty expensive by itself but, it works better than any fluid I've found off the shelf. That and I get a donut and coffee while I watch the girls in the showroom. :B

My sister with new Camry is about $100 for standard oil change with required full synthetic oil at her dealer. Having a diesel cost more makes sense. My 06' Dodge diesel Wa $110 for oil change. I did my own for years until recently. Different dealer sent me a coupon for $59. Unfortunately, dealers do not include lubing the front drive shaft.
Hmmm. I just purchased one of those full synthetic oil toyos (a highlander). Here is the skinny on that one. They gave a lifetime powertrain warranty. The full syn toyos run 10K between oil and filter change. The first two within 2 years are free. So I figure at the 30K mark the service will cost me close to 100, so what the hey that is probably less or equal to 4 of those 5K services. Lets check again with sis. :h - HybridhunterExplorer

Wait a minute, are you suggesting Dodge is the pinnacle of quality and reliability?
Thanks for the laugh.
I'm not so biased, other than GM, I'd say most brands are pretty close....
Fair enough, my fleet experience sees hundreds of vehicles, and the raw data doesn't jive with anecdotes, regardless of which brand one favors. Poor quality control, and engineering flaws carried through different generations of vehicles from GM is appalling, the latest recall fest was a symptom of this.
Just to show I am not biased, a recent Ford SUV purchase was a recall disaster, which will skew the numbers for a while, but the cost was zip. That's all I can say about that! - john_betExplorer II

I can do it myself for $50. It's almost worth it to let them do it since a roach couldn't slide under the car after fasting the weekend. I enjoy doing it myself with the F250. I enjoyed my diesels when I had them but the more I read, the less I think I'll own another.
- NinerBikesExplorerIf the sales scale of this motor is large enough, I would not be the least bit surprised if another European filter company like Bosch, or Mann, or Mahle manufacture this filter for the European market that runs this exact same motor. Kind of doubt RAM designed the oil filter canister and filters for this motor, that's something the engine manufacturer specs out locally and sub contracts for in Italy, by Fiat. That VW owns Lambo Bugatti and Ducati, or controlling interests, tells me that Germany has penetrated the Italian market for engine design, and of course, oil filters for those engines. So I'd look possibly to a german filter manufacturer to somewhere down the line make these filter too. Money to be made, just need to cross reference the correct filter part number, I would think.

Actually didn't mention dodge as the truck is now branded ram. And not biased or brand loyal at all. This was new vehicle purchase #26 & my FIRST Chrysler product. I've always seen the brand as an inferior product. While, admittedly, I still suffer from "dodge-a-phobia" a bit, I think the series of European ownerships have brought vast improvements in the way of innovations & reliability. And I have nothing against the mini series trucks. I, too, owned an 05 Tacoma & compared to the ram it's truly a "toy"! - HybridhunterExplorer

Fronty had 270, and it too would show tail lights to the truck with ED.
