I gotta call BS on that. I have owned 11 different vehicles, 8 from new in the past 19 years. EVERY ONE WITHOUT EXCEPTION had at least 1 warranty issue. Most had one or two minor things, and 2 were just terrible, spending weeks in the service bays for warranty (Toyota Tacoma TRD V6 4X4, Nissan Frontier - Lemon buy back ultimately).
Shoulda bought a ram!!!
HybridHunter is always right. Just ask him.
Yep, I've picked up on that. What I find amazing from this post is the fact he owned a Tacoma & a frontier & he's breaking bad on the capabilities of an ecodiesel? LOL!! - Fast_MoparExplorer

The author of that article clearly has an agenda to make diesel for Average Joe Driver look as bad as he possibly could.
If that truck were running a DPF instead of DEF, he would have gone through a LOT more than 11.7 gallons in diesel fuel for regens, and paying nearly $10 a gallon for it is just asinine on his part.
No mention that the oil changes are LESS FREQUENT in a diesel either.
...and the mileage is "far below" what Dodge claims? It's a NEW TRUCK! The engine takes thousands of miles to break in. Get 15-20K on it and then come back and tell us what it's getting, but he probably won't because it wouldn't further his little crusade here.
I wish they'd give me one of those to drive around so I could write a blog about it. If you take your head out of your ass, you could maintain it properly for about 1/2 what he's claiming.

Mopar filters are FLEETGAURD with the Mopar label. Fleetgaurd is a branch of Cummins.
As for filters for the new Eco-engine in the Ram 1500 Geno's garage has them both, fuel and oil. Not sure of the manufacture. Plus they are also stocking after market products and accessories for the new trucks.
All the filters for new trucks are expensive. and of course you want the best for proper filtration.

I think just a minor correction is needed. Fleetguard only manufactures filters for the Cummins engine for the RAM. The Oil filters for the VM Motori motor are manufactured by Fiat (since they own VM Motori). However, the VM Motori engine has nowhere near the scale as the CTD, so they probably don't have the economies of scale yet to produce these parts hence the really high price tag for now. It will probably get cheaper as time goes on and good generic filters proliferatin into the market. Hopefully someone discovers if VM Motori makes their own filters or if they are made by another party. - boocoodinkydowExplorer

Anyhow, the statistical average is around 1.5 problems per vehicle, and those who have none are usually not paying attention.
some stats
Anyhow, who wants a $10 aftermarket filter on a $4k engine? The oil filter is easily the most likely part to lead to cancellation of engine warranty. - just_meExplorerMopar filters are FLEETGAURD with the Mopar label. Fleetgaurd is a branch of Cummins.

(Not affiliated with Geno's) - Perrysburg_DodgExplorerWell one of the jobs I had at Trenton Engine plant was installing the oil filter, EGR and upper intake cover. The dunnage that the oil filters came in were stamped "RETURN TO WIX FILTERS" the filters that go onto the Pentastar are also Wix, from the factory. I would think that Wix would manufacture the Mopar filter also but I can't not say that for sure as I have never worked at a Mopar distribution center.
Don - Wes_TausendExplorerI heard a rumor Ford no longer immediately releases the specs for their new oil filters. So the only part originally available is OEM.
When my V-10 broke, I discovered that Ford had a TSB out that stated something to the effect that engine oiling failures would not be covered if a Motorcraft oil filter was not used.
Anybody know the facts?
