gas mileage

Just drove from Zion national park to home which is colorado springs, 700 miles. We got 9 mpg comming back. We drove 65 mph. I have a gas 2009 ford F250 crew cab. Our trailer is a 2008,23 foot Funfinder. What a joy to pull with this rig. I know it's a bit of overkill for this truck to pull this small of a trailer, but you truly don't know it's back there. We have a wdh with no sway control and the trailer is glued to the back of the truck. I do travel with a full tank of water. ZION is a neat place to visit, put it on your list of places to visit.
  • Sounds like a fun trip... planning myself to get to Zion and other SW destinations this fall.

I'm driving a 1/2t gasser and get 9-11mpg at 55-60mph. My trailer's tiny class C tires are only rated to 60, I see little need to test that rating :)
  • Yup, 9 mpg that is about average. When I get 10 mpg on my F-150 and 25 ft. Dutchmen it was a good haul.

We are planning a trip to Zion next February when the snows blow.

Glad you had a good time.
  • Watch out. There a few on here that will take exception to your "......but you truly don't know it's back there", remark.

I have felt the same with our 6000lb 5er behind our 250 diesel. Sometimes, "I have to take a peek in the mirror to make sure that I'm still pulling. :) and we get about 12 mpg.
