- Sandia_ManExplorer IIGreat news. It is awesome being able to store your RV on your property, ours is parked in our backyard, always plugged in and ready to go. Hope you find a home where this option is available.
- AirForceAnglerExplorerCongrats! It is great being able to keep the TT at home. Mine sits next to my detached garage/workshop. Someday I hope to be able to add a lean to to this garage to cover my TT. County code wouldn't let me build a shed tall enough for it, but can maybe get by with a lean to.
- Go_DogsExplorerJust make ABSOLUTELY sure about keeping the TT on your property. We just got burned on that. We bought our current home 7 years ago. The real estate agent told us it was ok to park TT in driveway,(don't believe them). We saw plenty of boats/RVs in the neighborhood in driveways, so we thought we were okay. Seven years later we got cited for violating an ordinance. We were not permitted to park in the driveway, all the other RV/Boat owners had applied for a variance,(we did and were denied).
Bottom line: Call the zoning commission in your new neighborhood and made SURE that you can bring the TT home. Good luck on your journeys! - KittykathExplorer IICongrats! I'm jealous. Our birdies just left the nest, and our toy list keeps growing. Now we need a smaller house with a BIG shed.

Communism? Not like you had something that was a health risk or gave rats a breeding ground. - Bucky_BadgerExplorer

Spot on, Make sure you see it in writing, and get a copy - Caveman_CharlieExplorer IIYour in Sioux Falls. Maybe you want to move a mile out of town and then you can keep it on your property for sure. (Or, I would think so, you still better check). But, I'm about 90 miles from you and I know Sioux Falls is like a oasis in the middle of no where. (Not Criticizing, it's a nice place. I get there often.) If you get just out of town you should have less ordinances and more room to do what you want.
- phenrichsExplorerActually need to update my profile. We are moving to Watertown. City ordinance is SF is bogus. No way I could park it there. Watertown is not so strict.
- dadmomhExplorerSuggest that if the neighborhood you're interested in has a HOA you ask for a copy of the CC&R before you jump. If the realtor can't locate one, there is usually a copy filed in the registrar's office along with all the property information.
We bought a townhouse in the Cleveland suburbs and the builders had put partial privacy fences between the yard areas for each unit - each sat on 1/2 acre. We noticed several had extended those with various materials and even a couple of chain link, but they all looked nice. Of course, you had to fill out a zillion forms to submit to the HOA, which we did. We were going to simply extend the original fence out and back around to the corner of the house for our dogs. They denied it and even though we pointed out the others, their lame excuse was that "they didn't file a request and just put the fence up, so it's alright". Some HOA can be a real PITA, so if you have lingering questions, go directly to the source with a copy of the CC&R in hand. It really is wonderful being able to store just a few feet out the door. Good luck. - Caveman_CharlieExplorer II22000 people in Watertown. Not sure they have a HOA, CCR, REO Speedwagon, or a lot of other thing like that. On the other hand, many of the small town near me have been getting all carried away with there local ordinances. One town does it and all the rest don't want to feel left out so then they have to do it too. Thank God, I live in the country.
