Got my steps installed

Was in a quandry for entrance steps, Little Giant ladder, step ladder or Torklift Glo Steps.

Went with the Torklift Reveloution Glo Steps. I had to fabricate a mount in as much as the Palomino SS 1500 don't have the required 3" of flat mounting surface to attach the bracket so... I did. Nice steps, in fact my wife is overjoyed with them.

  • I looked hard at the Little Giant, the price was really good but like Fpoole, I was thinking how do I store it. Thought about making a sill similar to what I mounted the glo-steps on but I'd still have to secure it to the outside of the door at the top with a rubber band (tarp strap) and stainless hooks.

I can see I'll have issues with my license plate being obscured (the glo-steps block the plate. I'll either remove them for travel (2 pins and clips) to remove or I'll add an illuminated license plate bracket to the back of the camper. I have a couple nice LED ones in the shop.

I went on an LED kick this spring and changed every incandescent outside lamp on the camper to an LED. Big difference in brightness and with any luck, I'll never have to replace any.
  • I had to fabricate the mount to the camper, nothing complex, some welding and vary basic machining. My deck height (bed to ground is 38") and the 4 step Revolution works fine. The Revolution has the adjustable, extendable bottom legs. Folds up and secures for transport with 2 rubber tie straps that attach to the main frame. Very well made product and very stable too. No side to side slop at all.

My only issue was attaching the aluminum frame to the steel weldment I had to weld to the cross camper stiffener. Aluminum on steel is a big no (electrolysis), so I put 6 hard nylon spacers between the steel and aluminum step mount.

The steps come with all stainless steel fasteners for mounting.
  • Yep, I had the Giant Ladder, worked well, but a PITA to keep pulling in and putting back into the camper on the floor... especially at the markets when resupplying ..

Got the Sto N Go? same thing sorta, and luv'em...

Kudo's to Torklift for a job well done...
    thanks..
