Ok good so far...never had a brake system before but have carried heavy in the bed...Planning it out...would you suggest a stick mount on the manual or a flip switch hard mounted?....I'm on the fence but leaning toward the stick mount with the manual.
I have a BD Diesel brake with the switch on the shift lever.
On narrow, steep down grade corners or off road it is nice to switch the brake on and off with the shifter hand.
The brake will stay on in neutral with the throttle at idle position and no clutch pedal movement (clutch pedal "out").
In cold weather or if the engine is not fully warmed up when I drive off in city traffic I will engage the brake at red lights etc to speed warm up. - KKELLER14KExplorer IIOk good so far...never had a brake system before but have carried heavy in the bed...Planning it out...would you suggest a stick mount on the manual or a flip switch hard mounted?....I'm on the fence but leaning toward the stick mount with the manual.

Didn't use the banks but did install a PacBrake in my 2004.5 with the NV5600. Loved it especially when hauling my 13,000# fifth wheel. My father also installed one in his 2004.5 with the NV5600 and used it for hauling his 15,000# fifth wheel. Install was real easy with the hardest part being running the wire for the on/off switch mounted on the stick.
By going through the gears, could start slowing down just before an off ramp and be down to 20mph before hitting the end.
After 150,000 miles of which probably had 60,000 miles of hauling, my front brakes still had at least 50% pad left.
This is exactly what I did with our 2001 Ram 2500 with NV4500, I hardly ever used the service brakes. New to us 2016 Ram 3500 6.7 Aisin down hill set cruse and let the EB do its job. - notevenExplorer IIII run a BD Diesel exhaust brake on a 2006 Dodge 5.9 Cummins, manual trans. 265,000 miles, probly 50-60% towing, changed the front pads at 200,000ish miles, rears are OEM.
"2 speed axle" switch on the stick, also use the brake for fast engine warm up.
I have on board air compressor with a couple tanks for the rear air suspension so the brake uses that system for air supply.
With a BD or any valve in the exahust pipe type retarder it is critical to set the pressure control correctly for your engine as per the installation manual.
Haven't read up about the Banks equipment but it will be good I expect. - kohldadExplorer IIIDidn't use the banks but did install a PacBrake in my 2004.5 with the NV5600.
