Cold an WINDY here want to head to the canyon, but looking for warmer weather
What's happening in AZ. Should we head south an holdup awhile?WoW we didn't
Think it would be this cold in NM. This time of year when we started planning this trip
Last year.It was nice when we left FL. 31 days ago.OH WE'LL. Still a fun adventure
  • It's 56 with a high of 59 in Hemet, CA right now with light rain and a prediction of showers thru Tuesday, Southern AZ has thunderstorms predicted thru Tuesday also, so its heading your way and will probiblily get worse as it heads East.
There is also a wind advisory thru Tuesday also in SoCal

Alot of NM is high desert country with sea level around the 5000 foot mark. then the mountains go up from that... Used to do alot of DOD contract work around the T or C area and it gets down right cold there haha.... The mountain area around north AZ is pretty high up as well... Pretty darn cold... Right now you got all of this high wind blowing across the wide open areas. better hold down you hat with one hand...
  • I'm in Albuquerque now too (I live here). It is currently 61 deg. and headed to 68 today. Overnight temp of 52 and a high of 75 tomorrow. This is pretty normal for this time of year. It is cloudy (praying for rain) so it does feel cooler. I'd spend the day walking around Old Town or visiting one of the museums and head on over to AZ tomorrow.
  • We agree with docj, that if you don't like Albuquerque right now, you likely won't enjoy the Canyon. Florida's humidity makes it feel a lot warmer at the same temp.
  • I would head south on I25 to Las Cruces, lots to see, good food. Then over I10 to Tucson and on up to Phoenix. Should be warming up around Albuquerque now anyway, might not be worth the trip to you.
  • According to Weather Underground Albuquerque is currently at 63 degrees headed to the mid-70's and the wind is at 4 mph. If you consider that cold then IMHO you had better turn around and head back to Florida. The South Rim of the GC is nearly a thousand feet higher than the elevation in ABQ and is predicted to be 10 degrees colder than ABQ.

Having lived in ABQ for 5 years, what you are experiencing are very normal temperatures and wind conditions for this time of year.
