Help with light fixture

We have this light in our bathroom:

I cannot figure out how to remove cover. I see some white tabs, but those do not seem to press in to release cover and I do not want to crack anything. Anyone with the answer?

  • Yours looks like the one our Via came with. On ours, you had to unclip the top cover (two at bottom left & right corners and one in top middle). Once that is off, there are 4 small Philips screws holding the clear cover on and the bulb can be changed. We replaced our whole light with a motion activated Starlights SL1000 LED one that we like much better.
  • Wish I had that problem, mine remove themselves when they feel like it, lol.

So you have to take off the silver looking part before you can remove the clear part? I have been trying to remove the clear part thinking the silver part was a permanent item. I will see what I can do when I get home from work today.

Also I am very much interested in that replacement fixture you mentioned. Was it hard to replace the old one?

    Thanks for the help.

I know what you mean. We had a camper which used a soft plastic cover and the tabs were almost non-existent, so they would easily fall off on bumpy roads. I did the cheap thing and used small pieces of scotch tape to give them that extra holding power.
  • I don't have one but you might try pressing in on the top front.

  • Isn't it just a matter of pushing the little tab inside the circle, along with any others like it?
  • The tabs do not push in at all. I have tried several times even using a piece of metal. Also, the tabs are spaced so far apart and there are 5 of them that it is not possible to do all 5 at the same time.

However, as previously stated, I did not try to remove the silver part only the clear part, so perhaps I was trying to remove the wrong part. I will try tonight.

Thank you, you were correct. I took off the silver part and there were four screws holding the clear part on.

Now to find out what is wrong.

    Thanks again.
