how to turn off front marker lights on the mallard m29

I just bougt my mallard m29 yesterday and noticed the yellow lights on the front top outside will not turn off. Ive toggled every switch in sight and asked heartland and they said the switch is in the front basement but for the life of me I cannot find it. Does anyone know the exact location of this switch?

The dealer might be your best option. Sounds like the lights got wired into a 12v constant.

I'm surprised to see a lower white light shown in this photo as I have had problems passing State DOT Inspections of having manual control lights on the rear of the trailer. I suspect having a manual operated light on the front of the trailer would raise the same red flag. ????

Probably one of those things that gets a pass because it's manufacturer's "original equipment"??

Is that trailer one of those with the blue / white light up "eyes" on the nose? What's the purpose, just decorative?
  • Check the 7 way trailer plug to see if there is anything shorting the terminals out.
  • The pic isn't showing up but I'm sure you are showing them the correct ones. I agree with all your points. They should only be on with the truck lights but they are on. Right now it's hooked up to the house power. I will disconnect and see if they shut off.

Disconnected from all power sources except battery power and they are still on. May need to go to the dealer because they should only be hooked up to the trailer plug.

Which front lights are you referring too. the top mounted YELLOW lights are DOT Safety lights and should only be under control of the 7-way connector on the rear of the truck. There should not be any 12VDC being provided by the trailer battery for any of the US DOT Safety lights. These lights will come ON when your truck lights are ON. They are required to be 'ON' when being towed at night so having a manual control switch would defeat this situation.

  • Do you mean the yellow running lights near the top of the TT?

Those should only turn on if the TT is plugged into a TV.
  • I assume that you are talking about the " running lites ", if so they should turn off with the head lamps , maybe shorted ?
  • Yeah I found that one. The one I'm talking about are the lights at the top.
  • The switch for my lower light is on the light I to have a m29
