This is true. I owned a 6.0 van for 7 years and I loved it.
Perhaps if it left me stranded a few times I wouldn't love it as much. :B
I admire what you are planning to do and give you a lot of credit for what you have done so far. I wish I had your mechanical skills...but I don't.
Still think that you might want to consider the 6.8 V 10 as an option, as it might be an easier and than the 6 liter PSD.
The V 10 I believe has a very good rep for power and reliability.
I've followed poster Carringb's threads/posts on his E 350 6.8 V10 and if my memory is correct, think he has racked up a significant number of miles and I believe has built up the V 10, to produce a good chunk of power with this power unit.
Think the only problem I've heard of with the V 10 was that earlier models had an issue with spark plugs pulling out....something like that.
