My 400W pure sine inverter with 12v plug works great for the tv/dvd in the 830. Maybe you can find a convenient location for a 12v plug where you can temporarily use a portable inverter when you need it.

It does depend on what you want to run. If you want to run very small appliances or charge a device or two, they work fine on a 12V plug.

If you want to run the whole TC, you need to put it where you can plug the TC in. Some people mount them inside the TC. You can follow the path you took for the solar connection and put it somewhere in the path. Again, though, you have to think about how to plug your devices in.

Of course, you also have to turn off the battery charger when you do that and probably should turn off the refrigerator as well.

I think there is enough room on top of my battery box, under the sink to mount mine. Might even use Velcro, or just 2 bolts up through the battery box with nuts on top. Still waiting for spring.

I am debating how i want to deal with the AC side. Currently my sat receiver is in the over head cabinet sideways held to back if wire compartment side inside cabinet with velcro strap, and it is sharing the AC outlet for the microwave. I am thinking of just running a new outlet for sat receiver, with a 2 way switch somewhere under sink to switch from sure power to inventor power.

There is, but we have 840's and Nolan has an 850, I'm not sure where his batteries are.

For 150 or 300 watts just use the main battery feed. Connect to the 120v circuit of choice with a small transfer switch. No pulling wire, just make connections.

I am looking to mainly run a hair dryer for my wife, so right now looking at the xantrex prosine 1000watt. What is the smallest watt hair dryer you can get. Would love to go 300 watt morninstart but don't think it has wnough juice. Not sure if I can get away with putting it under the sink or out of sight due to it needing air to breath. I like the idea of putting inside mounted to the battery box like towpro mentioned. Pretty sure the 850 and 840 are similar. I think I have enough room but worry about proper ventilation. towpro what inverter are you looking at putting in?

Hey Nolan,

I "installed" a 400 watt inverter up in the charging center cabinet and plugged into the 12V outlet. Really, it's the only accessible place I could come up with to keep it portable and without running extra cable. Unfortunately, the 850's battery box is not much of an option, IMO. Totally out of the way, unlike the 840.

For the few A/C items I run in the camper, it works good enough.

Okay, just read you want it for a hair dryer. That will require at 800-1500 watts. According to my wife, the small dryers don't work all that great. She has a lot of hair and has tried a lot of dryers. With her current Conair on the "warm" setting, I know it pulls about 800 watts. On high, over 1700 watts.

With that much demand, I think your only choice is to mount it near the battery box, in order to keep the cables short near the batteries. The basement fan could be wired to a manual switch for ventilation. Not sure how much or little air that small fan moves. Probably not a lot. Maybe look at upgrading to a higher CFM.
