- whizbangExplorer III've had generally good luck on Craigslist. I've bought and sold a bunch of stuff including RV's.
That said, there was a really good looking Northern Light camper advertised in the Lewiston-Clarkston --- about 5 to 6 hours drive from my house near Seattle. I think the camper was 20 years old and the sellers were asking about $6000 --- A high price for a camper of that age. So, I figured it must be in pretty good condition. Wrong. It was a total piece of junk. The work required to fix it was so extensive that I wouldn't take camper for free.
The only up side to the story was that I was going fishing in Idaho anyway and the detour off the freeway was no more than 10 minutes. If I had driven across the state just to see the camper, I would still be ticked off.
Good luck in your search. - chuckklr04ExplorerThis looks like a interesting deal in SC.

Capri on Craig's list in Greenville S.C. in your budget. Also a Capri Rodeo in the Tri City's TN. Its a basic one but vary affordable . also a small pop up style truck camper in Kingsport TN. I sent him a email with a few questions.
All a little far away for inspection. Kinda burnt out on craigslist right now. Had three encounters with people who think their project campers are above high retail Nada guide.

Agree. Stay with low NADA and as long as there are no major leaks for 3000.00 you will be ok. The TC I picked up after a little more TLC could probably flip it and make money. Previous owner had it since 2006 and just wanted to get rid of it due to buying a new fifth wheel. Keep hunting and maybe look at some Capri Rodeo TC...They are a light weight hard side camper. Find a decent one for that amount. What kind of truck are you driving?

All the Capri's seem to be in TX. Kinda hard to drive 10 hrs to look at a craigslist ad. May end working in Shreveport or Dallas for a week just to hunt for campers. - SpknTCExplorer

Don't have more then 3k, also don't want a monster Lance. Don't mind some fixing, but don't make me pay for your underwater buy.

I live in north Dallas and I will tell you that good used TCs are hard to find here too. Also depends how much your budget is for a used TC. I just found one up in North Oklahoma after looking at a lot of junk and my budget was 8,000. Ended up getting a steal on a 1998 Lance 990 Legend for only 3800.00. Calling TC my 1 year wonder!!That's all I am keeping it for. Will be able to upgrade to a newer TC. Needed TLC but everything works with electric jacks and dry bath. A little dry rot in rear overhangs but is fixable. Just finished resealing the roof seams, vents, and anything that needed it. Keep Looking and Good luck. I know it can be frustrating to find a TC on a budget. There should be more to look at now that spring is coming in Texas.
