Need some assistance here please. I have a Jayco 33 RLDS TT that I have only towed twice. Both times it seemed to sway more than I would think it should. I have the weight dist. hitch and anti-sway control hooked up. The first time I towed it was with a 1/2 ton Chevy. Thinking the truck was too light, I went out and purchased a new F350 only to find out it swayed just as much!! Wife not happy:(I would be inclined to think that my load balance is off and tongue weight needs to be adjusted. Or is this something I am going to have to live with. I have no idea what I have for tongue weight or even how to calculate it. I spoke to another camper in our campground who has the same camper and he said his tows great. I measured eighteen inches from the ground to the bottom of he ball on his 3/4 ton. Any advise I can get is very much appreciated.

That TT was probably too much weight for the prior half ton. However, I would recommend spending $15 at a CAT scale first. You will find out what your TW is (percentage is important) as well as how well the WDH is adjusted. Take 3 passes. Truck alone, truck with TT without WDH and truck with TT with WDH. A review of this thread may also be helpful.Do you have a WDH? Which one?

I can see where the 1/2 ton would have sway issues with a long rig but a 1 ton is more than up to the task. No reference to which WD/SC hitch you currently have but the Reese Dual Cam or an Equal-i-zer properly set-up will keep that long rig from swaying excessively. Make sure you have plenty of tongue weight (approx. 15%) as without no matter which hitch you use it will sway.

I didn't have any sway issues. But my tongue weight was heavier than I expected after loading up. I bought a Sherline Tongue Weight Scale to make balancing a load easy.

Various things can cause your sway issues. Could be one, could be a combination of several. Things to check:Trailer tongue weight should be at least 10 percent of loaded trailer weight. More, is better. Average is 12 - 13 percent. Not enough tongue weight, can cause sway.Check hitch ball height. Towing trailer nose up, can cause sway.Unbalanced or insufficient tire pressures, truck or trailer, can cause sway.Impropper set up of weight distribution hitch. If your hitch is not restoring sufficient weight, to front truck axles, subconcious hand movements on the steering wheel, can cause the trailer to wiggle.Not enough sway control. A single friction sway bar, is not enough for a 35 foot trailer.Overweight can cause issues. With F350, probably not your problem.Tire sidewall flex can cause issues. Also, probably not your problem.Bad roads and cross winds can cause some sway, but, not much you can do about these.Your owners manual (truck) should have a guide for checking hitch setup. It'll discuss taking truck and trailer to a level spot and doing various measurements while hitched and unhitched.CAT scale weights, would help to pinpoint possible problems. IE: tongue weight.You'll need three passes on the scales.Pass one -- truck and trailer hitched up as if you're going campingPass two -- truck and trailer without weight distribution barsPass three - truck aloneMain items I would look at --- Tire pressure, tongue weight, ball height, and hitch set up. If you only have one sway bar, maybe add another.

I suspect too light of a tongue. You will need to get actual weight to determine where you stand. As mentioned above a Sherline tongue scale is a good idea

I like my TT one inch lower in the front. But that is just me. If the back of your TT is higher then the front, it may sway. Go on the internet for your manual to your hitch.
Ford says to adjust any weight distributing system to return the front measurement to 1/2" higher than an uncoupled truck. This is because the weight distribution is inherently heavier toward the rear axle when loaded and the truck is engineered for that.

Now you TV will be level with your TT hitched up. Probably not a big problem with a F350. Next measure the front of your TT to the ground and the rear of your TT to the ground. It should be level.

When you hook it up do you just put the hitch on the ball and hook the safety chains up or do you jack the truck and trailer up to attach weight bars? If you don't use weight bars then you need to look into a weight distributing hitch like the Reese dual cam or Equalizer hitch. Also you may not have enough tounge weight.

I'll be honest and say I really only hook it up the way the dealer showed me. I didn't knowingly readjust anything. What would I adjust?

Did you re-adjust the WDH after you installed it in the new truck?

I pull the new 338 RETS (same TT as the 338 RLTS) with an '05 Excursion 4X4 and a Hensley Arrow WD hitch. Our TT has close to 1400lbs of tongue weight so I don't think your issue is a light TW. But you should still get to a scale to verify what you have exactly to dial in your setup for better towing.
Our combo tows very nice.

I have same trailer and tow it with a 2002 Ford Excursion, with a single friction sway bar, don't have a problem, truck moves about 1/4 to the left when being passed buy a 18 wheeler. When set up for towing the front end is within 1/4 inch of where it is when not towing. Also have WDB hooked up. Tows like a dream. We are right around 17,000 pounds completely loaded.
