jayco bunk mattress replacement???

hello, we have a 2008 Jayco Jayfeather with bunks in the back for my kids. the top bunk mattress is reported from Jayco as 29.5" x 73.5". My question is can someone recommend a mattress without breaking the bank? My 8 year old son will be sleeping on it. thank you
  • Our "Queen" sized bed is like many other TT beds, the size is approximate. :)

We tried a thick sleeping bag as a cushion but finally ended up with a blue egg carton shaped foam pad from Camping World. It is about 4 inches thick. We did have to trim it to fit our bed size.

I am sure there are similar product available but we are happy with ours.

    Good Luck
  • That's what we did with ours. But we also put in the adjustable frames. We bought the full queen size memory foam mattress, and cut it in half. So I can elevate my head and feet and the wife doesn't have to. They don't sell the split mattress anymore.
  • I would recommend getting a foam mattresses that you can cut down to size. Buying a custom made mattress can get expensive.

  • The problem you are going to have is that it isn't a standard twin size (39x74). So you will have to go with a custom or RV size which limits your selection.

You could try some of the mattresses on Amazon that come in the 30x74 size:

Some are inexpensive and just about any foam mattress will be an improvement over the paper thin ones that come standard.
