Most RELIABLE Diesel 1 Ton Truck???

That's obviously one of those personal opinions that has no bearing on the "right choice". For me, I'd go small and upgrade. I don't need or want all the fancy features of the higher trims if the price difference is substantial. If the difference were only a few thousand, then I'd do it...but that's not the case. My TV gets about 95% of its use doing things other than towing the 5er, so luxury doesn't mean much to me.

I like to keep the truck current, the resale is high, so I like to trade them, usually before 60K seems to be the sweet spot. It depends on a number of factors doesn't always work that way sometimes I keep them to 100K but this year it is easy to justify.

I keep mine a bit longer like 180,000 miles but agree if I am going to drive all over the USA and take many weeks doing it and often.... I'll take the best equipped truck out there. I like style, comfort and ride but that's me and I've got the time so happy trails.

Ha, Bighorns don't come with leather. I spent 1k to buy an all new leather interior from Katzkins before taking delivery. That was the only other thing I wanted in my bighorn. I didn't want air conditioned seats, I didn't want the big fancy infotainment system or navigation. I did not want to pay for the fancy projector headlights. nothing. So it was either pay 3 to 5k more for trim upgrades to get a leather interior, or just pay 1k for seats.

WT? I paid $36K OTD for my 12 Ram ST in 2012. To get leather seats I would have to spend well over 10K more. $400-$500 for leather is a bargin.

Like others, when I was looking a couple of years ago, lightly used, recent diesels were ridiculously expensive; so we bought new. A new truck is also ridiculously expensive, but at least you know it has not been beat up ploughing snow and/or tuned for drag racing, which is very common around here.
