New camper needed modifying

Have most of you found that your camper NEEDS modifying? We picked up our new Adventurer 86FB end of April and it didn't take long before my better half started pointing out areas she wanted me to work on:

Kitchen cabinet needed a second shelf

Dinette table was designed to make into another bed so they built it IMO, too big for the space. I cut 2.375" off and it's amazing how much it opened up the space in the aisle now. Technically the dinette is suppose to sleep two but the chances of that happening are very remote. We wanted the space more.

The space under the kitchen sink cabinet had two areas that needed some improvement. Since I didn't take before and after pictures under the sink, I'll try to describe it. There was a piece of 1/8" luan to the left that went straight up blocking a large area from being used as storage. I believe it was the easiest way to block off the area because there are two gas copper pipes they were protecting. I cut off the luan and made a protective plywood box to protect the gas pipes.

The next area under the sink they took the same type of 1/8" luan and angled it across a large area to protect the water supply lines and drain pipe. It was another waste of space so I removed it and boxed in the area with the same luan just big enough to do the job of protecting the pipes.

The next area that needed improvement I actually have before and after pictures. The area is the upper bed, front left corner. The bed mattress has been removed to work on the area. What the manufacturer had made was an elevated shelf. The shelf was fixed and the space underneath it was inaccessible. You could see the space, but you couldn't access it because the opening was blocked by the mattress.

So I removed the shelf and framing and made my own.

I made the new box/shelf longer to utilize the entire space. Before there was this 2" front gap between the front of the shelf and the front of the camper. It was just a dead zone big enough for stuff to fall into and then be a pain to get out. I also made a hinged top so we can access this before unattainable space. It's over 3450 cubic inches of space that they thought we wouldn't miss!!

In some ways I wish Adventurer had come standard with this, but in some disturbing way, I've enjoyed customizing it too. I believe a lot of you have done much of the same.
