One ton DRW in California....CVRA?

Yes to the CVRA, I have a 2015 F350 DRW I had to declare a GCVW. I received my license plates along with my weight stickers. I am not sticking them on my truck they reside in the glove box with the registration and insurance cards just like my old F450 stickers.

Do you have to stop at weigh stations? How much more is it to register and insure over 2500?

I called my insurance agent about a F-350 DRW (I'm leaning towards a Ram now though) and the insurance quote that I got wasn't bad at all.

I have no idea what the law is but can't recall ever seeing a TRUCK CAMPER at a weight station.

Having a COMMERCIAL TRUCK LICENSE PLATE however may be a different story?

Most trucks over 6,000 unladen weight will have a commercial license in California. It does not mean it is a commercial vehicle, just that it has commercial plates. IT is more or less a tax thing.

The weight stations in California and Oregon only want to see vehicles over 26,000 pounds GVWR that are not RV's!

Even the dually F-350's that tow a 40' trailer with 3 cars on it, they are in lighter class vehicles so they 'can' avoid the weight stations in most states, and use much easier and relaxed rules about hours of service, ect.

When you start shopping, talk to the person that does all the final paperwork. They can explain the registration. No need for CVRA numbers or stopping at weigh stations, just a commercial plate should do it.

Troy are you going to use your truck for financial gain and business use? (Example, do you own your own company like Troy's plumbing?)

When I lived there my first weight in for the DMV was ~7800 IIRC but a GVWR of 12200. Just regular Cali commercial pickup truck tags.

Did you declare GCVWR because you have a commercial trailer you tow? If all you do is tow your RV you are exempt from the GCVWR section and just have to declare GVW.
