Pondering Lance 1010 to a 861 but want to keep my long box

I currently have a 2000 Lance 1010 which fits nicely on my 2002 F250 as shown in my signature. Driving the back roads last week I came across a 2008 Lance 861 for sale on the side of the road. It had a slide out on it which peaked my interest. A few days later I stopped with the owner and was pleasantly surprised! This would be a nice upgrade from the 1010. Even thought it is a short box model, there seems to be quite a bit of floor space! And the hight of the cab over! We could actually sit all the way up while on the bed!
I was shown around the rig. Nice camper. I will bring my wife by on Thursday, I am sure she will love it.
I was skeptical with the short camper / long box thing. But I found a few pictures and a couple of posts, and I hope it will be OK after I take some measurements of the COG and such. An upgraded truck would be nice but I know what I got with the 7.3. Besides, we always drop the camper at the CG anyway in order to drive around the area.
