What Ford really needs is a modern chassis. That ancient c-channel worked great back in 1999, when Dodge and Chevy was also relatively primitive in terms of chassis refinement and ride and handling.
Fast forward 15 years, Ram and Chevy are riding on state of the art, highly rigid fully boxed frames. In this day and age where performance is splitting hairs, it's the subtle things like the "feel" of a truck that impresses auto journalists.
Totally agree. But why should Ford do anything but keep applying Band-Aids and upping the ratings since their loyal crowd still loves the taste of the BLUE OVAL.
Although look on the Mobile Suites Forum where when I joined in fall of 2011 at that time all you saw was F450's. Times are a changing at least for the people that really use their TV's. GM and RAM are taking over dramatically.
Just curious. Do you really have disdain for those that don't choose your brand or is that just your forum persona that you have fun with? Sometimes it is hard to tell as you cannot read that into comments when you cannot actually see the speaker.
No disdain at all. I was just pointing out a few things I have noticed over the years. Ford is the one that has chosen to spend much less on their frames. I would too if It did not effect my market share.
i also point out that people that use their RV's for full timing or for their own hauling business choose GM and RAM more.
I try to be as factual as possible when I post based on written data or my personal experiences.
As far as RAM's go I owned a 98 4X4 I bought in 01 with 50K and drove it until recently and sold it to my Son at 380K. I just bought another one recently a 2wd 5sp with 313K. But I would have to say I would not buy a 3rd ten 6.7. Don't like the body style and unless someone really used their 6.7 as a truck and not grocery getter I would not want it.
I bought a 86 C20 with the 6.2 drove it well over 300K and along the way swapped in a 6.5. Along that same time my Dad bought a 98 RAM/Cummins and saw what his truck would do and I became the Cummins was the chit. I bought my 98 because of the engine and figured the truck would fall apart around the engine that was not the case. Only reason I bought my 11HO Longhorn Dually is because we wanted a larger RV. The 2011 has been trouble free for 50K so far.
I guess I rambled a bit so anyway hope you have a bit of onsite about me now.
