I understand that Maxxis currently the very best option for replacement trailer tires now available.My question is this. In the unlikely event of a blow out of a Maxxis tire, is Maxxis very good about standing behind their tire, and taking care of damages caused by a blow out of their tire?I have a followup question for anyone who have had blowouts using Marathon tires. Has GY been good about standing behind any damage caused by blowouts of their tires? Do they need the tire sent to them in order to determine if the blowout is due to defective tires, or to abuse by the trailer owner. In other words, do they try to wiggle out of standing behind their tire?

I can't answer that. I have never had a blowout on a Maxxis tire.

Had an issue with a Maxxis tire recently. Caught before it failed violently. I think I picked up something on road. I went back to Discount Tire. They replaced for $17.00 (Cost of balancing and new valve stems), Did have to wait a week since they had to order tire.

No failure so far, so can't answer.

i think the comments that reference discount tire have more to do with them then the specific tire... they are really good about dealing with issues.

between bias and radial- my '73 holiday rambler towed horribly with anything other than bias ply. it is strange to describle but it was kind of like a squeshy feeling

Like others here, I've towed trailers over 30 years and never had a blowout. My Maxxis are 4-years old and have over 12,000 miles on them. I don't know if their warranty is any good, no need so far. Keep your tires aired up properly and avoid road hazards whenever possible.

Can't hurt to call Discount and ask if you can add the road hazzard? I see no reason why they wouldn't let you. Since they will allow you to add the road hazzard to factory tires when you buy a new car/truck.

As to the Maxxis, I haven't owned a set yet, but am interested in more replies as I probably will in the future!

Replaced my EOM Freestar with Maxis 9 months ago and 4,000 miles and no issues. In fact, they seem to wear more even than the OEMs.

With some of these responses I hope my luck continues in not having a blowout (going on 15 years towing various trailers). I do have a TPMS installed to alert as soon as there is a problem. Has anyone beefed up their wheel wells and if so how? There doesn't seem to be a lot of room to do much from the outside.

I have always ran bias up to this year. Only had one blowout in 30+ years of towing with bias. When it blew it blew into bits and no damage because of it not being a SBR. The bias is a totally different animal than a SBR.

I now have SBR Maxxis on my trailer. I don't expect to have any problems with these either. The SBR seem to tow smoother than my bias. After looking at the sidewall of the bias I can see how that would happen.

I'll eagerly await an answer from the experts on this one, since I've always heard exactly the opposite- that is, that radials do more damage than bias-ply. But maybe that's limited to those radials that have steel belts...
Most radials use steel belts, and from experience I can tell you that they do a incredible amount of damage when those steel belts start whipping around.. My damage extended far beyond the wheelwell.

Sure they can and do as evident of all the ruined ST tire threads.
Many times the tire throws the entire tread belt leaving the carcass holding up the trailer. After a few miles the carcass finally looses air and finally starts to shred.

Or the tire actually blows out/slow leak from a nail/etc. If the driver didn't hear it or se the low tire while driving then the tire will start shredding after several miles at intersate speeds.

If your using a ST tire (any brand) I would get a good TPMS setup especially if you run at nite.

I've had all of the above happen with the old bias ply and the radials on my RV and mostly non RV trailers.
