Radio

Every time I plug in the trailer, the Jensen radio comes on. I have checked to make sure it is in the off mode, but it still comes on. Not a big deal as it shows that the trailer is powered, but still would like to have it stay in the off mode. Any suggestions how to program it?

Check to see if the alarm is set to come on at 12:00AM

This is probably not a fix for your problem but this is how I setup my JENSEN radio...

My JENSEN radio of course is for a Automobile and uses two HOT connections... Main unit and what would go to the KEY ON position in the automobile...

My connections were both wired to the same 12VDC connection on my setup.

This means I have to set up everything every time I want to use it...

When we are at a location for an extended few days time it would be nice to turn off the radio and have it remember your previous settings... To make my setup more like what is in the automobile I installed a second switch using the ignition wire connection.

After I setup the radio using the main ON-OFF button I can now just use the side switch to turn ON-OFF the radio and it will remember my radio setting...

If I use the main OFF-OFF button the radio then all goes off including my presets...

  • Most RV radios are 12Vdc. The 12Vdc lights and equipment are fed from the battery and wouldn't have power to them interrupted by plugging the RV into 120Vac shore power. Is the battery healthy?
It is likely that the 12Vdc voltage when not plugged in is dropping low enough where the radio is shutting down completely. Most radios only go into a standby mode when you hit the power off button so all settings are retained.

I too installed a kill switch in the radio circuit for those times we're relying on battery reserve alone but I wired it to kill the radio entirely, deeming the memory circuit redundant as we're usually camping well away from our home area, in which case the radio remembering stations that can't be received where we're camping would be pointless. ;)
  • If it was mine and that was happening, I would put a small switch in the 12 volt feed wires
