Ram 6.7 fuel filters

Time for a change and have used OEM filters in the past. I know that Fleetguard makes Mopar, but has anyone ever tried a non-OEM brand. I'm not talking a cheap Amazon knockoff, but something like Baldwin or Wix?

There is a backorder on Fleetguard and alot of places say there is a backorder on Mopar, which makes sense as well. The Mopar has 3 micron filteration rating, while the Baldwin advertises <4 filteration. Truck is still under warranty. Should I just stick to OEM and wait till they get them is stock?

I'm about 2K miles over my change interval

I only use OEM filters on all of my vehicles, and especially my Ram/Cummins pickup. The price difference between them and aftermarket is not significant, and at least I know that I'm getting quality filters. I am fortunate to have a large Cummins dealership nearby where I buy all of the Fleetguard filters for my truck.

I wonโ€™t get into the wix filter d!ck swinging contest, but I do agree Ramโ€™s current (since 2014) filter system works as well as designed. Coming from a Dodge that pooped injectors at a little over 100k and required additional aftermarket filtration.
My wix secondary filter looks like 12Vs after 15k (aside from a little red tint lol) of catching fuel that came thru a Wix primary filter.
I am pretty well read and AR about my maintenance and have no issue with 15k filter changes on these trucks. If I was being cheap I might even extend the secondary filter interval.
I was going 20k on my old 5.9 secondary 2 micron filter that was pre filtered by the OE filter. No issues. And Ram basically copied what the aftermarket developed for their previous sub par system.

Iโ€™ve used Wix in my 6.7 when I couldnโ€™t find Mopar.
No problem.

I guarantee you that the WIX is NOT as good of a filter as the MOPAR/FleetGuard. I sure would NOT bet my warranty on it.

I recently had to prove proper filtration on a MaxCare warranty claim. So let us know how that works for you if you have a filtration related warranty. Chrysler does NOT screw around anymore.

Give me a break!!! That is not considered a modification. Besides who has bigger Lawyers???

There is a specific spec for the two filters on the newer RAM trucks and if an aftermarket company complies to those specs there is no problem.

As I said the NAPA Gold and WIX do NOT meet the specs.

Good luck with your Magnuson-Moss lawsuit.

List of filters based on years.

They do look good for 15k. I'm too scared to go that long, change oil and fuel at 10k just to be on the safe side.

Iโ€™m curious. What are you afraid of? Iโ€™ve heard that dirty fuel filters are bad but I have never heard a reasonable explanation as to why. Some of our equipment has pressure (or vacuum) gauges that tell us when to change filters. I usually donโ€™t change fuel filters till the gauge indicates a need or I notice a lack of power โ€ฆ. often that means never.

You are WASTING your money changing Fuel filters at 10K plain and simple. Every filter at 15k looks like the one pictured above. Changing your oil at 10K is fine but not needed as long as you use the synthetic media Fleetguard or AMZ/OIL-Donaldson oil filters and true Synthetic oil.

Its once a year for me ,but not 15K , that would take me nearly two years . I average 8K per year ,my truck will be 8 years old next month , and I am just shy of 64K. I am just going to have to continue wasting money . ๐Ÿ™‚

There are things I "waste money" on also but this is a closed system and it does not care how long it is to change.
