Redesigned rear Torklift on the way

Our rear tie downs are on the way. Torklift engineers have been on the job. Today we spent most of the day taking the old steel ones off the front. Some nimrod had them so tight we had to use a nut splitter to get them off, the bolt and nut would both turn. DH and I are worn out and time for a cold beverage. It has been a long time since I have been this dirty and I don't like it. LoL! Grease monkey is not my thing, at least it wasn't a 100 degrees. Keeping fingers crossed for Friday when fedex arrives.
Should of said Talons...brain doesn't too well when tired. Forgot to add we broke nut splitter and had to use hammer and chisel.
  • We have had our superhitch on our truck for several years now. The rear mounts for the talons wouldn't clear some part on our 2006 dodge, which all is stock with exception of the superhitch. We love our truck, 63,000 miles of purty but you certainly got a nice ride with the 2015. Hopefully all goes well with the install. We have a camping and fishing trip planned real soon.
  • I installed mine on the 2015 Ram 3500 last week. Was expecting the ones with the flat plate that needed the fish wire but was surprised when I opened the box to find straps, bolts and pipe sleeves. A call to T/L got me back on track me out when I was informed that I had received the "new & improved" units. INstall was pretty straightforward, only snag was starting the upper nut on the rear strap, driver side, due to the close proximity of the fuel tank. The front strap ad a nut already welded in place. Surprised they did not do the rear in the same manner.

The super hitch needed a bit of trimming in 2 places where it slipped up along side and under the OEM hitch but a few licks w/the angle grinder and a few squirts of black rustoleum fixed that as well. The unit jacked up into place w/the floor jack then with a nice fit.

Under Edit: the Big Brown Truck just showed up w/the Lance harness, so it will hopefully, be off to pick up the 2011 1181 tomorrow. Film at eleven!!
  • The talons are made with aircraft aluminum making them so much lighter and rust free. You are so right about the boxed in frame, it was a pita. I really appreciate the bolt fisher wire now. :B
  • Why are you changing them?

Installing and removing these on boxed frames can be a chore.
