- bpoundsNomadIf this is a Ford OEM setup like you can order in current trucks, they have a plastic plug for the hole, which may already be lost on yours, but I'm sure you can order one.
If this is a user installed B&W, it probably depends on how well that hole was cut. But I'm curious why you don't just leave it? Might come in handy, and if not, adds value to the truck at resale. Not much, but maybe better than a repaired hole. - Maine-iacsExplorerI prefer a standard hitch and will install the base crosspieces myself. Just can't picture running around with a hole in the truck bed! The deal I can see on the frame rails says it's a B&W setup. So probably not original OEM.
- bpoundsNomadUnderstood.
Go to Amazon and search "gooseneck hole cover" and "gooseneck hole plug". There are several available. But like I said, depends on how nicely that hole was cut.
Most beds already have a nice flat spot there (corrugations flattened out specifically for this reason). So you could simply cut a flat cover piece, paint it, and screw it in place. It would end up below the level of corrugations, and would look pretty decent I think. - Install a rubber bed mat.

Looking at a used 250 with the B&W gooseneck setup. I know how to remove most of the hardware but is there some neat and simple way to cover the hole in the truck bed?
Anyone else done this?
Yes, you can get plastic hole covers if you remove the B&W.
If it were me, I'd leave it in place and use something like this Demco 5th wheel rail adapter.
It's a little pricey, but you won't have to buy another 5th wheel mounting kit and it will also preserve the gooseneck ball if you ever have a need to pull one of those trailers. If your Pullrite will fit standard rails this will be your cheapest option.

I use the Curt X-Rail which is similar to the Demco . Curt makes 2 versions, one for their round shank and one for the B&W square shank. I pick up the hitch attached to it but I use my tractors front end loader then put the rubber cover on the hole. - Maine-iacsExplorerWow! Learned a lot in a hurry. That Demco product would be the perfect solution. BUT my hitch is a slider. And the Demco product page says it won't work with one. Need to check on that further, And thanks to all for the plug suggestions - never thought there would be so many required that it would be on amazon.
- LanceRKeysExplorerB&W has a slider companion that would work for you.
