Replacing shocks on 2500HD, CC

I think I posted this on "towing" by mistakes. I am wanting to up grade my shocks on my 2500HD, CC (2012). I have 45,000 miles on the truck and tow 12,000 trailer that has a 1320lb tongue weight. Thank you for any suggestions or experience.

I'd go 5100, that's what I had on my old 1500hd, drove great.
Had Rancho 9000XL, and they sucked, harsh ride, two were blown after 10,000km.

Bilstein 5100 shocks have the best reputation for use on heavy duty trucks. They work well and are not terribly expensive. Good aftermarket shocks should last the remainder of the truck's life. I have put over 170,000 miles on all my trucks and SUV's and never had to replace the shocks twice and I pay attention to them with 4WD trucks as bad front shocks result in cupping and faster tire wear.

Only factory shocks that lasted at all were the ones on my Toyota trucks that were good for 80,000 miles or more.

Another vote for the Bilstein 5100 (silver body). I bought mine on Amazon for about $75ea

Yes that is the proper shock for pickup towing application. Mine are great still after 35K.

5100's on mine. Much better than the stock Mopar shocks but thats all I have to compare with. Price difference between 4600 and 5100 was insignificant and most shops said most prefer the 5100's.

5100s are more popular than the 4600s. You can go either way. I had 4600s on my last truck and 5100s on current truck. The 4600s are valved a little stiffer and are recommended for heavy towing. My current truck I use more as a daily driver and went with the 5100's.

Well just about anything is better than the******factory shocks GM puts on these trucks... My advice is spend a little extra coin on the Bilstein 5100s. By far the most popular and praised shock over on the Dmax forum. One of the best upgrades I have done to my 2012. They ride awesome and will be the last set of shocks you'll ever have to put on the truck. May end up costing you less in the long run if you plan to keep the truck a while.

I tried a couple of different brands before going to the Bils. The B's work the best by far and I think it's because they have better rebound dampening control than any of the others.

I went with the plain old Monroe's. Made a world of difference and not as pricey as the other. Found that my shocks were gone between 25000-30000 miles. I bet yours are worn out.
