Why would I have to get a C(ommercial)D(rivers)L(icense) if I'm not hauling commercial goods?
I don't want to take over the OP's post of the new rig....which looks awesome....but for a point of clearification.
Do NOT get hung up on the word "commercial". A CDL has more to do with how much you are hauling, not the reason you are hauling it. It is a weight thing mostly, but there are also passenger endorsements.
MOST states have exceptions for RVs, and a special license is NOT required, regardless of the weight (NOT to be debated HERE).
However, the flat bed shown in the OP's original pic is NOT an RV, no matter how many people think it is just a larger fresh water tank :B. Which brings me back to my first comment....As pickups have gotten bigger, stronger, more durable to compete on a limited basis with their class 8 relatives, the LAW has started to catch up & crack down on EVERYONE pulling these type of loads. The LEO doesn't know if the OP is pulling for himself, or delivering a load....and since it doesn't matter...many unsuspected people have gotten a lesson in licensing laws.
Sooooooo.... The truck can be perfectly legal to haul the trailer/load you put behind it. That does NOT mean you can drive it at those weights. Not that I care what you do either way---but LEO might.
