Slide problem

Hi - I'm looking for suggestions on things to try to fix my slideout before driving it 2 hours to a dealer. When i winterized last fall, everything was fine. When i tried to put my slide out this spring, i got no reaction at all when i pushed the switch. No noise, nothing. I ordered a new switch and tried that but it's no help. The fuses in the box all look fine. Is there another fuse somewhere that i might be missing? Lights, etc. are all working ok on battery power. It seems odd to me that the motor would go kaput without ever acting up, so i'm just looking for other ideas. Thanks for any thoughts on it!
  • I thought i'd update - turns out it was a wiring issue. Found it under the camper when we looked harder. Thanks all!
  • Look for a ground wire. When I had our Sun line TT, the ground wire came off and the slide wouldn't work. Also, check for corroded terminals at the battery. I've also experienced that problem....new spades were the fix along with trimming off the old copper and exposing some new copper for crimping the spade to the wires.
  • Okay, i'll check the batteries but they were new last year. They should still be good. If the batteries were weak, wouldn't the slide motor drag rather than just not engage at all?
  • My slide does not work without the battery installed. Despite knowing that, I try to use the slide every spring with only the 110 power cord plugged in.

I read a recent post stating that the slide should work on shore power, I would just need to connect together the two wires that connect to the positive terminal on my battery. So simple, not sure why I messed that. Good to know (forget) for next Spring.
  • There is probably enough power to run the lighte thru thr converter, but not the slides. Take the battery out and have it load tested.
  • Yes, plugged in. I don't know the type and brand of slide. I'm not even sure how to find that out?
  • Are you plugged into shore power? If not that would be my first try. What type & brand slide.
