If you mean storage space below the floor of the trailer, there are few models of TT that have been built with basements, and I know of none currently built that are small. Carriage, for example, once built TTs with basements, but they were usuall pretty large, and the company was making only fifth wheel trailers for about the last ten years before the brand was bought by Forest River.

TT manufacturers will do "pass through" as storage that can be reached inside and from an outside door, usualy under seating or a bed. The same term in a basement RV means storage under the foor that goes all the way across the RV, you can push somthing in one side and out the other.

TTs might be said to have basements when the manufacturer encloses the utility space under the floor, where plumbing runs and some tanks maybe located. This is seldom deeper than the height of the frame rails at the frame (maybe 4-6 inches) and often tapers to 2 inches or less where the covering material reaches the base of the trailer walls.

Our 19' Tamarack has a small under the bed storage area (rest is water tanks, etc.) but also has pass-thru in the front under the front of the TT. Tamarack doesn't make this model anymore, but am sure they have one similar. We had to secure the wheel fenders as first few times out they vibrated off, so Grandson helped us put a support under the new fenders.
But for us two (no pets) other than specifically getting one without slides, no oven, but wanting a full-sized bathroom, this unit without a slide makes for a perfect "weekender" for us.
But definitely if choosing this size for full timing would get one with a slide (even if soloing)as we have been out for a cross-country trip almost 3-months, and a slide would have been nice when we stayed in one place for 3-4 days at a time. And an oven, didn't realize how much would miss the oven feature.

best of luck to you. my 1993 prowler 19e has storage under the dinette benches. one of which has a hatch outside. I guess you could cut into that for cat litter. would work good. kitty door on side of bench vents in door to outside lift top access cover to scope. that said I know my cats would all go bat **** crazy in the trailer and I would have a mess. good luck

We have a small TT and I used an area under a bed. Took off a cupboard door, walled off a small area, and hung a curtain for the cats to go in. There hasn't been any smell at all.

My 20 ft has this type of "basement" ... it is not something I would keep an active cat litter box in. It's pretty much the other side of the bed platform, and what smells in the basement will easily make it into the cabin.

I suppose you could cut the foam doors and put in some louvered vents, maybe a fan.

Can't cats be trained to do their duty outside on command like a dog?

Thanks colliehauler (love that alliteration)! I'm having so much fun getting ready for life on the road. I'll look around for a forum that might work for my style: frugal full-time boondocker with hobbies and pets. :)

Don't know how many kitties you have, but when our feline hits the road with us we put her box under the dinette. Out of our way, but easy to access for cleaning and she knows where it is. And, we have zero odor problems with the box contents.

an Ascend 19RD should suit your needs. can access "basement" under bed or at least my A17RD does.

Welcome to the forum. If you can find one with a front bed there is usually storage underneath with outside access. That's as close to a basement you will get in a small trailer.
