springs on newer f350 question

I own a 2012 f350 6.7 crew and have the 11500 gvwr
I have heard the f250 without the overload spring seems to sag with not a lot of weight. Not sure on my rig as my fifth is light with only 1200 pin, 200 hitch. 2 boys, wife and I. Was still borderline for my maxtow f150 towing in Alberta mountains and jumped to the 350 over a year ago.
So....... do these trucks carry 3000 plus without a lot of drop????? I know looking at the compareable chev and dodge the springpac looks bigger but I also know the ford has a progressive rate in their pack.
The older f350 look like their springs would take a better load.

Thoughts?
thanks
  • Thanks for the replies. It seems a pin of 2500-2800 should not need airbags. Looking down the road at a larger fifth hence the reason for going directly to the 350. I know the bags are for leveling but if the rig fits the combo right it should hold without to much squat IMO.
    2- 3 " drop is fine.
    Thanks again
  • I put Timbren's on my 2011 350 CCSB and when I towed my Cyclone with about a 2300 lb pin it towed the 5th nose high. Removed the Timbren's and it barely touches the overloads static with the trailer. Put Bilstein 4600's and Hellwig Bigwig sway bar on the back, I run it in the middle hole, it's on rails. Opposite direction semis at 60 on 2 lane highways it does not even flinch. Passing semis on the interstate same thing would not believe it could be this good.

PM me if you want some Timbrens for a 2011 up Ford SD SRW.

My 2012 F350 6.7 sags about 2-3" under the 3200# loaded pin weight in my 5'r. Very acceptable. The ends of the helper spring does touch on the stop. The truck carries the weight really well.

Pretty much the same experience with my 2011 F350. Without interference from the air bags, +/-3200 lb pin weight plus >175 lb hitch, a few tools and 4 people in the truck made the truck sit exactly level before I installed a 2" leveling kit. I now keep the truck fairly level with the air bags. The F250 doesn't have the benefit of a taller spacer block in the rear and will quickly sag 1.5" lower than an F350 under the same load because of this.

  • My sticker is 3307. You have a good payload as the diesel engine cuts into that. you probably have something similar to the camper package that basicly gives you the suspension of the f350. The sticker does not answer the question though on sag.
  • Look at the payload # on your door post to compare. I have a 13 250 with HD service suspension. It is a 6.2 4x4, with payload of 3232.

Mine drops an inch or so, when hooked up. Don't know the loaded pin, and dry pin is just a brochure figure.
