Table support failure

Hello,

The screws on the table support plate against the wall have come loose. We can just push/pull the into or out of the wall. I sent my husband for plastic anchors the size of the screw I had removed for sizing. He came back with the anchors where you s rew it in tightly and bow out the wire prongs. I've never gotten these things to work and don't want to damage the wall using these anchors.

What type of anchors work best to get the supports back on the wall?

Wendy
  • Thank you for your suggestions. We will need to wait until the high temperatures come down. The trailer is too hot to work in when outside temps are around 100 degrees!

I will look for the other type of anchors.

  • Hi,

I'd be concerned that there was some moisture damage. Can the supports be moved to a different undamaged area? I'd be tempted to use 3m adhesive as well as screws.
  • I have had great success with EZ Anchors -- here is an example -- they are available at hardware stores:

Some tips: first, drill a pilot hole roughly the size of the core of the anchor. Use a Phillips screwdriver to screw them in. Whenever you are drilling into a wall in your trailer, make sure you use a piece of masking tape to mark the depth of the wall -- do not go through the outer wall of the trailer. Cut the anchor so that the tip does not hit the outer wall. Do not use an overly-wide screw when screwing into the hole in the middle of the anchor.

You do not need to find a stud for these anchors -- they work well in the foam behind the luan paneling.

Perhaps try these out in an inconspicuous area (under the sink??) until you get the hang of it.

    Good luck!!
  • I'd try to find a vertical support (stud) if I could and use a 1 1/2 inch wood screw. The paneling in these things is so thin I doubt an anchor would hold.
