The trials of a nw camper.

Well we went on the second trip with the new camper. The Wife open a cabinet and a box of donuts holes attack her. Hit her in the chest and broke open and dumped on the floor. Of course the loving husband I am I laughed my head off. After picking up the donut holes we opened the bath room and found all the towels on the floor. A modification is do for that cabinet. The last problem is a water problem. We have camped for 11 yrs with a 30gl fresh water tank and never had a problem. Our new camper is suppose to have a 36gl tank. We have ran out of water both times. I intend to put water in to the tank a gallon at a time just to verify we have a 36gl tank.

    You may want to try getting your tires balanced.
    When I went in for this, the tires were so bad (square) that I got new ones....which solved the problem.

    What camper did you get?

    If your water tank is exposed underneath, you can use a flashlight to confirm water level. Try to run it out at home and check the level. Maybe your pickup hose is broken, has a hole, is not on the bottom, etc.

    If you can measure your tank while down there, you can easily calculate the freshwater tank size.

    Maybe your old tt had low flow faucets (aerators) and the new one doesn't.

    Remember - that 36 gallons includes 6 gallons for the water heater.

    If you have a water level indicator, that actually works, check it after filling and then again when you arrive at the campground. My KZ Spree 261RKS spilled most of its water out the vent pipes. To make matters worse, the last ten gallons were below the pickup port. To completely fill, and access all the water, the trailer must be level.

    Do you fill it to the full gauge or when it begins to overflow. My newest unit seems to get water in the vent tube and it fools you into thinking that it is full when you are filling when it is actually blowing back out the fill hole due to pressure building up in the tank. The only way I can correct this is to stuff a rag in the fill hole around the hose until the pressure blows to water out the vent in a big woosh. Be careful that your tank isn't really full or it could rupture the tank. It would be nice to have a second gauge at the fill port.

    That was the same thing that I was interested in. LOL

    My old camper had a copper line that was attached to an extra fitting on the top of the water tank. I replaced with a 1/2" nominal copper line when I rebuilt the camper. I open the hose filler cap and then attach a domesic water hose to the copper line. When the tank is full, water comes out of the hose filler. Doing it this way I have to make sure that I always open the hose filler or I may blow the tank apart. The good part is that the tank is easy to fill and the air comes out of the hose filler.

    To keep the cabinet doors closed, I tie the doors together with an old shoe lace. I have also seen people use bungee cords. You are luck that it was not heavy "glass plates" on her head
