Some of you folks are either not doing your research or you live in areas where all the private CGs are dumps. I recall that being the case 30 years ago but in the last 10 years or so we have found plenty of well managed, rustic private CGs that were only a small step down from staying in a state park. Yes some of these have a large seasonal population but campers like us non-the-less. And the management of these places requires well maintained units.
Again, the Internet is your friend. Do your research and you will find what you are looking for.
As far as the quality of units sold today, if we could buy reliable trouble free units, most of us simply could not afford them. We're on our 3rd Jayco we purchased new since '93. Fit and finish issues but overall solid construction and only very minor issues.
