Turn Signal light not working?

Hello from NY! 1st post here! I recently purchased my 1st TT, it's a 2002 Dutchmen Lite Sport, 26'. Camper is in great shape, but the one issue so far is figuring out why my right rear blinker/brake light won't work. I have swapped the bulbs and both left & right bulbs are working fine. I'm guessing a bad ground somewhere but I am clueless about the wiring in this rig! I crawled underneath and found this white wire that isn't connected anywhere, but the wires going to the light fixture are green & black. Any suggestions are welcome!!
  • thank you all for the replies/help and i made a serious rookie mistake, as some of you mentioned, checking the truck ground. I automatically dismissed it being the truck since it's only a year old, well you're right, bad towing turn signal fuse! Friend had a trailer light tester, which i will now be picking one up! problem solved and turn signal working as it should!!
  • On mine, I had my wife look at it because I thought it wern't working but she said Yup, Nope Yup, Nope, Yup, Nope!
Actually on a Chevy, R and L fuses for the TT are in front of the drivers knee Left end. Open the door, pull on the panel and it will pop out. Look on the panel door and it will tell you location of about 14 fuses. The other fuse box is under the hood, L side. Your mileage may vary.
  • First things first. Get one of these trailer light testers. This one tests either 7 pin or 4 pin connectors. This will tell you if it is the tow vehicle or the trailer that has the problem. You have just eliminated 50% of the possibilities.

  • Bad ground. Where does the white wire go? Can you see a place on the frame where it might have been attached? White is/should be ground on a trailer.
  • Some tow vehicles have separate fuses for trailer lighting. One for left stop / turn, one for right stop / turn, one for running / marker lights, etc. It could just be a blown fuse. Check the owners manual on the truck.
