where to put inverter Arctic Fox 990

Any of you install a small inverter to run tv & dvd player in your Arctic Fox 990? Looking for ideas for the best place & how to run the cables to the battery.

Usually easier to just run the 110 volt wires to where you want to split the outlet and put the heavy wire and the inverter as close to the battery bank as possible.

This is a Morningstar Puresine 300 watt mounted on top of the battery
box along with all the solar and plumbing stuff. Yea its a little
risky here if I ever have a leak but it seems to work well.

We used a cheapo 140 watt 12v plug for a while, but the fan and buzzing got old quick.

Lots of places to mount them but as others have said they do need to
be as close to the battery as possible and connected to the battery
with the appropriate size cable, bigger inverter means bigger cable.
If i recall I used 6 gauge to the battery then put a switched dedicated outlet
in the cabinet next to the shore 120v using 12/2 romex

Hope this helps and gives some more ideas.

I added plastic wood to the top of the batteries and put mine in the battery compartment. I never wired the AC plug in, so I run a short extension to the shore power cord as needed.

I thought about that place. Maybe cutting a hole through the cabinet below the two drawers. If I get one like I had in my Bigfoot it should be able to sit on top of the battery box & face through the cabinet.

I mounted mine on the back side of the battery box.

Not certain what the new layout is in your 990 tho.

I just remove the drawer and it's right there with plenty of ventilation,
and close to the batteries.

I temporarily pull out a small 300w inverter from the forward cabinet and plug it into the lighter circuit next to the antenna amplifier. Since my TV has a built in DVD player, only one AC plug needs to be moved from the wall outlet to the inverter.

I did the same on my 990 but with a slightly smaller inverter. The inverter I installed came as a kit with a standard size wall receptacle containing a remote ON/OFF button, 2 USB ports and a dual AC outlet with a cable interconnecting them. I installed the receptacle in the side of the cabinet by the step to the overhead.

On our AF 1150 I velcroed a 150 watt PSW inverter on the bed side wall of the driver side cabinet next to the built in 12 volt outlet and the antenna connections. The inverter plugs into the 12 volt outlet when I want to use it. It powers our TV and DVD player and if we need to run a computer from the dinette I just run a long 120 volt extension cord from it.

The nice thing is that it is small.enough to fit there and still be able to open the driverside hamper without interference (though it is close, any thicker and it would interfere with the door when lifted up). In our experience 150 watts is plenty for the electronics.

You only need 150w or 300w inverter. I recommend placing close to the electric panel. Tap on the main 12v battery connection for power and use a small transfer switch to send 120v power onto the circuit of choice. This avoids pulling wire as you will use existing. Put a remote switch on the inverter and you have instant power on demand. Leave it off and all works as normal if the RV is plugged in.

I have and recommend GoPower for low idle draw and provision for a remote switch.

You want your INVERTER unit as close to the battery terminals as you can get them. There is no length restriction of the 120VAC Extension Cord you will run up to where your HDTV and Home entertainment items are located.

Most INVERTERS have two 120VAC ports so I run two extension cords from mine - one to the home entertainment area and the second one to the bedroom area...

Mines under the plastic pull out bin that is inside the cabover step that you use to get into bed. I lifted out the bin and installed a 1000 watt Pro Sine wave inverter. I actually drilled some 1/2" holes in the bottom of the bin to help ventilate any heat from the inverter. Really dont think it was needed but I still did it. Also a nice place for using short cable runs to the batteries in my 1140.
