If no wiring you might have to get creative. Can you use a metal coat hanger to reach from the vent location over to one of the ceiling lights? If so they pull the light down and tap a wire into the light fixture and use the coat hanger to pull the wires over to the vent location.
Last ditch is to use some decorative raceway from somewhere like Home Depot and run the wire up a wall and across the ceiling.

Chances are HIGH that option one (wiring is inside or near the vent once you remove the trim piece) or two (tapping into a nearby light and running a couple new wiresover to the vent) will be a viable option.
Hengs replacement vent fan was an option I used in a previous TT and also replaced the bathroom vent fan with it's little noisy computer fan. I was very happy with it.
Maxair and Fantastic Fan are two of the top rated models (along with top dollar) but they are quieter and a bit more powerful along with fancier.
